On a 400 meter track you need to run just over 1 and 1/8 laps. The 1/8 is basically half of a straightaway or turn. 500 yards is 457 meters.

A running track used to be 440 yards or a quarter of a mile so for 500 yard it would be just over one circuit. The new tracks are 400 metres or 406.4 yards

once around the track and then down the straight away stop before the curb. thats 500 yards!

500 meters is a lap and a quarter so, 500 yards should be around there...

Track is 1/8 mile if I recall.
That about 600 feet. Do the coversion to yeards
