Religious *fundamentalists* don't believe in evolution for a few reasons (that I can think of).

1.) They are fanatically dogmatic. If the "good book" said that the sun sets in the east they would believe it despite the evidence to the contrary.

2.) They don't understand what evolution is. When you're on shaky ground instinct pushes you towards the safe and comfortable space. For creationists the safe and comfortable place is the bible.

3.) They have been hijacked by a right-wing group of political activists whose primary goal seems to be to Talibanize the US. By "teaching the controversy" and using other deliberately misleading and intellectually dishonest tactics, groups like the Discovery Institute are dumbing down this country. They are trying to make all institutions toe the line and come under the authority of the Christian religion.

What's evolutions hard evidence. DO YOU HAVE A VIDEO OF A BEAR TURNING INTO A WHALE.

DO you have a video of a lizard becoming a bird. Show us your Truman Show. We want to see the process. We don't want speculation.

Things do evolve yes, although not from apes to man, not from one species or creature to another, but one species, one human ethnic group, etc. can evolve within itself over time...and I DO NOT even slightly believe for one second that this world was created by some ''big boom'' or big bang or whatever that theory is. I think man constantly has to feel in charge, as if we run the universe...so scientists try to come up with answers as to how all the magnificent things in this world came about..and its just not feasible. Because some people have been told that evolution disproves God, contradicts the Bible, etc. (see the first answer). Sadly, they feel the need to choose one or the other, and of course many people will choose God.

Far more people would accept evolution if it was better explained that evolution does not contradict the Scriptures or disprove God.

God's yearly time frame of years is plainly different from scientific man's time frame of millions of years. Creation is of God. We are not suppose to have all the answers to everything. God has all of the answers. Mayb we are suppose to remain meek and mild in the face of God. Just a thought.
