When I went to the hospital a couple of days ago, they had a hard time getting my veins to open up to put the IV in. The nurse tried to put it in my right hand and didn't get anything. But, today, it is really sore and it isn't bruised on the surface, but inside where the vein is. The spot on the left hand that she was able to use doesn't ache as much as the right one. I don't have a doctor that I can go to. Should I take this matter back to the hospital or what do I do?

It is completely normal. If you would feel better you can take a couple of Aleve and ice the bruised area for awhile. The reason it looks and feels the way it does is because she had so much trouble putting the IV in that she nicked the vein and it has bled under your skin. The pain is simply because they were poking around in there!!!!
Hope you feel better soon.

This can frequently happen when trying to insert an IV. Place an ice pack on the area for ten minutes at a time. This will take down the soreness and help it to get better quickly. I really don't think there's much that a hospital can do for you. It's just going to take time and ice to get better.

Ice. It will reduce the swelling, and help begin the healing process. Don't forget to rest it, and if the open wound on the skin hasn't healed, use some antibiotic cream. Those idiot nurses are a pain in the butt. They once gave my mom (who is very tiny and bruises easily) a bruise six inches long! It will heal in time, I wouldn't worry about going back to the hospital.
