Why do Protestants continue to ask Catholics why they worship Mary (meaning why do you given Godly worship to Mary) after being advised by thousands of Catholics Mary is not given Godly worship?

Is this a sign of bigotry or mental illness? Is this simply stubborness? Or is it the inability to admit you're wrong? Hopefully both posters and yahoo will realise this is a serious question.

for the benefit of skanlite why does the same person continue to ask the question after being given the answer a thousand times over? Is this a trained Protestant evangelical technique? is so you'd figure the spirit of God would tell them okay that's enough now.

Tadzig what videos? I've seen one also put out by a know bigot and anti-Catholic preacher who deliberately misrepresents Catholic practise. He claims Catholics worship Mary on the cross yet shows a statute of a female saint not Mary who was truly crucified and is represented in the imagery as crucified. I'd say some honesty is called for if you are claiming to be a representative of truth like this heretical preachers.

Jed fine you go straight to God, than don't ask any of us to pray for you like Tammysue down at the bible chapel and intercede for you. The Catholic Church has no doctrine that demands to ask Mary to pray for you. I bet that was shocker.

once again the question is not about people who have not had an opportunity to discuss this with Catholics. The question is about the same individuals who have asked this question numerous times to many different Catholics and receive the same answer that Mary is not God and is not worshipped as God. I appreciate the answers so far but I see some of you skirting the real question.

Lawrence you are a prime example of spreading ignorance. The title co-redemptrix is not officially dogmatic. Even if it was your understanding of what it means is falty. It means Mary cooperates with Jesus in God's plan of redemption. It doesn't mean Mary is more powerful or equal to Jesus.
You need to be open to truth.

They continually ask the question because they want others reading their question to believe that Catholics worship Mary.

They are hoping that others will think, "Oh, if he is asking why Catholics worship mary, then Catholics must worship Mary".

Yes, I have wondered this myself.

I do not think these people, who post these questions (as well as other anti-Catholic questions) really want to know the truth. I read one resolved question in which the asker has asked if Catholics worship Mary. There were many good answers from Catholics...well thought out, non-defensive answers. The answer that got 'best answer" was someone who said..."yes, of course we worship Mary." The asker picked this one and posted.."yeah, that's what I thought."

Obviously, that person wasn't looking for the truth. She was only looking for people to back up her ignorant view of Catholicism.

I see that over and over in here.

If you really want to know the truth, then please ask the question. We Catholics will do our best to explain and enlighten. But if your goal is to stick your head in the sand and insist that we are idol worshipers, or Mary worshipers...then there is no point to a discussion.

I think sometimes these folks have missed previous postings and discussions. Other times, they just persist in their ignorance, clinging to what their preacher told them about how Catholics are evil and un-Christian.

I think it's a lot of fear..."if Catholics aren't doing something clearly wrong, like "worshipping Mary", then uh-oh, maybe they ARE really Christian, and as they were the original Christians, YIKES, that makes my religion a little less valid!"

It's ridiculous, really; a simple misunderstanding of language and word usage (worship vs. prayer) has spawned a hatred of Catholics by some other Christian groups...hopefully this forum WILL help shed some light on this subject, and the misinformed folks will be enlightened.

Peace.

I am not a Christian but Christians should definitely worship Mother Mary irrespective of whether they r catholics or protestants because Mother Mary gave birth to Jesus-thier saviour, thier God therefore her place is naturally very high. Those who do not respect Mother Mary and ask such questions, I think ,cant be true followers of Jesus

First of all I could care less what these Protestants think,I follow my Catholic faith without shame or fear of ridicule and have a high devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary that no-one is going to insult me to my face for,oh it`s so easy to do this on a forum and thereby hide behind the anonymity that this medium provides, but don`t try to insult my Heavenly Mother to my face.
Yes you are correct in what you say, it is pure ignorance on the part these people and mostly bigotry from the hardliners.
The Mother of God is their Mother as well and yet they take every opportunity to blaspheme Her name, what graces and mercy have they lost by doing this?

First of all, and perhaps the main reason you see this here, is that this forum is used by millions all over the world, not all at once but little by little. So the same questions get asked again and again partly just because new people come along all the time, and myths and lies abound out there about the Church.

Be patient. Apt to teach.

My belief is that these people who constantly ask these questions about Mary think that one day one of us Catholics will trip up and tell them what they want to hear and cannot accept the fact that we honor the Mother of our Lord Jesus and ask for her intercession in our lives. I know that I need all the prayers I can get from my friends, family, caring strangers and Mary the Mother of God.
Peace be with you.

It has something to do with the catholic obsession with mary - the way they ask her to intercede on their (and other peoples)behalf. The way they put pictures of her everywhere, light candles to her, etc.

I don't think they necessarily worship her like a god, but I can see how people would think that.

As far as I'm concerned 'christianity' and the bible are all fake anyway, but I respect other peoples beliefs, and their right to worship however they want, as long as they aren't hurting anyone else.

The only problem is that they generally teach their beliefs to their children before they can even comprehend what they are being brainwashed with. It makes it impossible for them to ever think objectively about religious matters again for the rest of their lives.

As one who has worked with Catholics for years, I can tell you that, protestations to the contrary, a huge number of Catholics DO worship Mary! Also, there was the recent movement to have Mary proclaimed co-redemptrix! You can claim the opposite however loudly you wish, but the actions always speak louder than the words!

The priest is the agent of the Christian's supernatural start and sustenance in the worldwide. ``Father'' is a call which does no longer conflict in the slightest with Matthew 23:9. Christ forbids the Christian to renowned any fatherhood which conflicts with the Fatherhood of God--only as He instructions the Christian to ``hate'' his father, mom, spouse, and his own existence, insofar as those conflict with here of Christ. (Luke 14:26). yet Christ does not forbid Christians to call His own representatives by skill of the call of ``Father.'' Catholic monks share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ (no longer a human priesthood), and their sacred ministry partakes of the Fatherhood of God. Like St. Paul (himself a Catholic priest), each and every Catholic priest can confer with the souls he has spiritually begotten as his infants in Christ. (a million Cor. 4:14). St. Paul considered himself to be the non secular father, in Christ, of the Corinthians: ``For in case you have 10000 instructors in Christ, yet no longer many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, by skill of the gospel, I even have begotten you.'' (I Cor. 4:15). The call of ``Father'' is totally suited for an ordained priest of Jesus Christ
