Christianity doesn't if properly understood and practiced.
The very texts which speak about the place or role of women are the ones which are misunderstood- made out to be misogynist.
If they are read in context, and understood what it meant during those days, and for even now, you can easily tell women are equals with men.
Just different roles. That is all.
The Bible actually has more to say and is "harder" on a man, believe it or not.

Going from the Adam and Eve story, Eve was created from a rib, so she could be at man's side, as both a partner and lover. This was how it was supposed to be, men and women side by side, neither above or below the other. Any verse that says I'm sub-human is made of fail. Cause, although I'm shorter than most guys, I'm not below them.
And, custom at the time said that women were to just sit at home and not do anything unless their husband said so. So I'll guess that those books were written with that in mind, or something.

First, when God created, everytime he created, he created a higher life form. Woman was the ultimate and final creation, therefore, woman is a refinement of man and therefore closer to the nature of God.
Also, the subjugation of women in genesis what the first sin that entered the world after the 'fall of humanity'. It wasn't part of the divine plan, anymore than was murder, greed or war. It was the RESULT of sinful activity and it is the biggest SIN that challanges the human race.
So, by depriving woman of her natural place as spiritual leaders of society, humanity plunged into an era of war, violence, inequity, hate and mysery. Humanity can only redeem itself by restoring woman to equal status, thereby balancing the society and allowing it to progress to it's full potential.
Also, remember that religous writings are NOT the story of the evolution of God. God doesn't change. Religous books are the story of humanities struggle to understand God. And like it or not, all the scriptures of all the religions have been cherry picked by men to support their own egos.
Sorry guys, but you know it's true.

Product of their times. The problem is that when we only consider a religion's original texts and ignore the more recent work.
Even Orthodox Jews aren't stuck in literal interpretations of 2000+ year old texts. Why do some Christians insist on that for themselves? (Does Islam have a continual tradition, like the Misdrash and Mishah? Are more recent writings part of that?)

The texts were actually written by men, during time periods when societies were utterly patriarchical. The Holy Books must be interpreted in the context and timeframe in which they were written. This is one reason it is very dangerous and foolhardy to take EVERY word as LITERAL truth...these writings were meant to be contemporary for people thousands of years ago.
There is still much Truth and Wisdom in Holy Writings for us today, but we have to know how to dig through the rhetoric and time-sensitive details to come to that Ultimate Truth.
Thanks for thinking :)
And Blessings for increased knowledge...
Peace.

Proverbs 31:10-31..........A capable wife who can find? Her value is far more than that of cora
In her the heart of her owner has put trust, and there is no gain lacking.
She has rewarded him with good, and not bad, all the days of her life
She has sought wool and linen, and she works at whatever is the delight of her hands.
She has proved to be like the ships of a merchant. From far away she brings in her food.
She also gets up while it is still night, and gives food to her household and the prescribed portion to her young wome
She has considered a field and proceeded to obtain it; from the fruitage of her hands she has planted a vineyard

The Torah tells us in the beginning G-d created...
I believe it was Genesis 3.16 where it states that before the apple was pulled from the tree in Garden of Eden, both man and woman were equal.
But, when they ate the apple, he cursed the serpent to crawl, and to the woman he said,
‘I will greatly increase your pangs in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children,
yet your desire shall be for your husband,
and he shall rule over you.
This is where life changed for women.

It's a pretty typical male domination technique.
Men are weak and full of fear - and they blame women for the lust that is in their own hearts.
So any time a bunch of them sit down to make up a bunch of religious b.s. (which is generally about domination to begin with) they always make sure to put themselves at the top - and women beneath their feet.
I'm a guy - and I can see this.

If the winners write the history books, then the more dogmatic menfolk will write the more Dogmatic anti-women religious books.
