When man was created God put into his heart the desire to live forever.
Ecclesiastes 3:11.........Everything he has made pretty in its time. Even time indefinite he has put in their heart, that mankind may never find out the work that the [true] God has made from the start to the finish.

Everybody fears death, or at least nobody (who is in a normal mental state) is looking forward to death. If we did, we would be extinct as a species. We are programmed to want to live.
Some people make up elaborate structures (religions) to tell themselves it won't really be the end after all. To me, this seems a tad childish.
To take this as the clue for the afterlife is beyond childish and well into delusional territory.

The only thing I want to live forever is the legacy of the good that I have done in the world. No matter how small, each deed lives beyond the grave in the lives of those they have touched.

Humans think too much about the wrong things and not enough about what's truly useful.
We get scared by horror movies. Does that mean that zombies, vampires or mask-wearing psychopaths that can't die really exist?

Time is man's creation in the sense that he could not grasp eternity and his limited mind has to break eternity into fragments which is time.

why do you suffer and wonder so much about it?
Some things are Gods province. Your job is to be in the world but not of the world.

No, it is just a clue of our desire or fear of an afterlife. That's how superstitions are created... Out of desires and fears.
