I read this, and it got me thinking... Is prayer really worth the effort?
"What would happen if we get down on our knees and pray to God in this way:
Dear God, almighty, all-powerful, all-loving creator of the universe, we pray to you to cure every case of cancer on this planet tonight. We pray in faith, knowing you will bless us as you describe in Matthew 7:7, Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:12-14, Matthew 18:19 and James 5:15-16. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
We pray sincerely, knowing that when God answers this completely heartfelt, unselfish, non-materialistic prayer, it will glorify God and help millions of people in remarkable ways.
Will anything happen? No. Of course not.
This is very odd. Jesus makes specific promises in the Bible about how prayer is supposed to work. Jesus says in many different places that he and God will answer your prayers".

Consider it a placebo effect. It doesn't really help but it makes people feel better.

All prayers are answered in time, they may not happen right when You want them to, or how you want them to but they are all answered.
How about this~
If you are praying for one thing there might be 10 people praying for the opposite. How can every persons prayer be granted at once? We are ALL God's children and each deserve to have our prayers answered.
TIME is a great factor, something that is not 'Meant 2 Be' at one moment, may happen perfectly 2 years later.
Have you ever prayed for something and then later seen why this would have been bad to have happened? Like the song "SOMETIMES I THANK GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYERS" Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.
We ALL need to remeber a few things:
1) We have people who pray for things (insignificant) they wish to happen, God is not a genie!
2) You only need to pray for something once~ he heard you! You dont have to get on your knees everynight to pray for the same thing.
3)Praying doesnt always mean asking for favors, pray to say THANK YOU or talk about your day or what your are excited about coming up. He knows already, but its nice to just converse.
4) Take the time to talk to others about this Great Being and Wonder in your life, he makes you happy, hopeful, and gets you the things you need. Maybe someone else would like to have all that you do...SHARE
Lastly, We do NOT have the answers, HE DOES, If you HAD the answers you would be GOD, and not need him.
Faith is just that; FAITH... believing that you will get what you need when you need it, sometimes not a minute before.Believing that he is there, believing that he will always be there. Everywhere all around you, everyday, every minute.
If HE brings you to it HE WILL bring you through it.

Prayer is more or less a meditation device that allows you to feel like you have a connection to God. You feel like you are talking directly to him, and like you are getting a massive weight off of your shoulders. You don't have to worry about anything at all, and everything will be fine... because you told God, and he is just, etcetera, he will do what is right; what is best.

The sad reality is that you are pretty much spending a half hour speaking to yourself.

Still if it makes you feel better, why not?

On a side note: Those who pray attribute the good things that happen and that come true to successful prayer. They just never take into account all the bad things that happen, and the things that never happen for them. They attribute the negative experiences of prayer to God's will (ie. God said "no" or "not yet").

I pray for strength, and focus myself on allowing "god" to strengthen me to pray. I think the time I set aside to focus on having strength greatly helps me, psychologically.

That's kind of how I view the power of "prayer"... people need to be able to focus on their goals, and prayer gives them a chance to remind themselves of what they really want in life.

God will always answer a prayer done in faith, sincerity, and according to His will. Case closed.

if you take it as an experiment, I am sure it will not work. You have first to have a real strong belief that God is powerful and able to help you, then pray and ask God for help. at that time it will work.

Prayer does work.
Ask with simplicity
Seek with intensity
Knock with persistence
We don't always get what we want, but God knows what's best for us, and sometimes unanswered prayers is exactly what we need.

God does just not always the way we would like. God says yes and answer them, he say no, not at this time and one day he answers.
