Say: "oh my goodness, I'm so full!, I can't even eat a bite!" Take a TINY bite to prove it, and ask for a doggie bag.
Cheese cake is very expensive, if it came from a store or restaurant, then take it home to someone who will eat it, or later discreetly give it to someone, take it home and throw it away if you must..

Quite a predicament... You don't want to seem ungrateful for the celebration, but you don't want to eat the cake! Well, it's your birthday and you have the right not to eat the cake. I probably wouldn't bring up why until after the celebration, unless they knew you didn't like it and bought it for you anyway. In that case I'd probably joke around about it, but not get too bent out of shape... they remembered your birthday and wanted to celebrate with you, that's the important part.

Take a token bite in front of everyone, then while everyone else is eating their slice, just leave yours sitting on your plate, and remember to stick your fork in it occasionally and push it around the plate like when you were a kid and wanted your mother to think you were eating your vegetables. At some point when no one is paying attention, put your napkin over it, and everyone will assume you have finished your slice. You can then discretely throw it away. That way, no one's feelings are hurt, and you don't look like an ungrateful jerk.

sorry, you can't not eat the cake without seeming rude. just cut a really small piece, tell them it's absolutely delicious and that you'll a huge slice for dinner or something ... then give it to a homeless/kids' shelter. it would also be a nice gesture for you to bake a cake (or buy and pretend you baked it ;) ) and gave some ... don't forget the thank you note :)

Ask for a small piece. Stick your fork in it like you are ready to take some. Then notice someone you need to talk to, set the cake down, get busy, and don't go back to it.
Happy birthday

I find the standard "birthday cake" disgusting too, I much prefer cakes with unique flavors, like ice cream cake or carrot cake. Cheers!

You do not need to eat it out of politeness. I don't know, unless someone did this on purpose knowing you did not like the cake I don't see what the big deal is. Maybe politely say you'll try it later and remind people cheesecake is not your fave. Happy B-day, anyways!

Before it's your birthday start talking about the cakes you like and which you dislike so that way you won't have this problem again next year. Take me, for example, everyone knows my favorite is strawberry shortcake...has been since I was a little child.

If their friends and family they should know you don't like cheesecake, but I can understand where your coming from. When in a situation where your expected to eat something you don't like, a gag reflex kicks in and you can't chew or swallow. I'd have to say straight out, I'm glad you all thought of me and I appreciate all of you, but I need to pass on the cheesecake.

Be polite,( take a plate and just leave it with you, say u´ll save it for later) after all maybe they didn´t remember that you aren´t one for cheesecake.. thats all you can do, the best thing to do is just thank everyone for celebrating your birthday with you.. thats all...
Take care !
