Psalm 83:18 That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth.
And Jehovah doesn't replace Jesus' name because Jesus isn't God. Matthew 26:39 "Going a little farther he [Jesus Christ] fell on his face and prayed, 'My father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.'"
If Jesus was God, who was he praying to here?
John 8:17, 18 :[Jesus answered the Jewish Pharisees:] In yourlaw it is written that the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me."
Jesus clearly spoke of himself as an individual seperate from the Father.
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning wiht God." Many other translations use wording like this.
The New World translation reads "In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. This one was in the beginning with God."
How do we know which one to use?
John 1:18 says, "No one has ever seen God." (If nobody has seen God, how can Jesus, who was on earth, be God?)
John 1:14 says "So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of undeserved kindness and truth."
Also, in either translation, John 1:1,2 states "the Word was with God". How can you be with someone and at the same time be that someone you are with? It doesn't really make any sense, does it?

Oc, Because Jehovah is the personal name of God Almighty. Ps. 83:18 says that the name of the Most High God is Jehovah. He is the only true God and Jesus Christ is his Son. (John 17:3). Many Bibles have removed the name and substituted LORD because they claimed that the proper pronunciation of the tetragrammaton (YHWH) in English is not known. But that is not the case because many other Hebrew names in the Bible are being pronounced, like Jesus, Jeremiah, etc. People now are beginning to realize that God, who is the Alpha and the Omega, His name is Jehovah.— Rev. 1:8; 4:11.

Jehovah's Witnesses are called that because Jehovah is the most acceptable form of God's name because it is most readily recognised as it has been used in English for centuries and preserves equally with other forms, the four consonants of the Hebrew Tetragrammaton,JHVH or YHWH.
The sad truth is that God's name has been removed from most Bible translations even though it appeared in the original Hebrew texts nearly 7000 times!Alot of Bible translations carry a footnote explaining that they have removed God's name for one reason or another.
As Jehovah's Witnesses,we like Jesus make God's name and purpose known to everyone we come in contact with.
Jesus taught his disciples to praise his fathers name. That can be found in the Lord's prayer at Mat.6:9 where Jesus prays:"Let your name be santified".Yet millions receit this prayer without any consideration to its meaning.
Please note that Christ is not a name for God.
Christ means Annointed One in Greek and refers to Jesus who is God's Son.
If instead of desperately trying to avoid contact with Jehovahs Witnesses you would already know all this....

This one is very simple. No reason for confusion whatsoever.
Jehovah is God's name. Do you have a name or does everyone run around calling you "girl" or "boy"? Yes, God's name is Jehovah and he wants us to use his name when praying or talking to him.
Secondly, his son's name is Jesus Christ. Jehovah God is the father of Jesus Christ.
Bless you.

Jesus is called Mighty God. Only his father Jehovah is called Almighty.
holiness, baptist, catholic, etc..... get confused between the two.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, (The mighty God), The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Exd 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

read ps 83 verse 18. God's only name is Jehovah. Jesus Christ is the son, not God Almighty. it is also in the king james bible. I am is not his name. God is a title. just like we have a name and we want our friends to call us by our name, Jehovah wants us to call him by his name because he is our friend also. when Jesus was on earth, in the Lord's prayer, Jesus said to use God's name. hollow by they name, what is God's name, it is Jehovah. www.watchtower.org

because it Jehovah is another name for God. just like Father, Yaweh, Elohim, El Shaddai, Lord or many other names, Jehovah is another name the word of God uses when referring to God. The Jehovah's witnesses chose this particular name to use all the time to refer to God, so ppl are put off by it, but i am a Christian, and although it is not my name of preference for the Father, i occassionally refer to Him as Jehovah. It is, after all, one of His names.

That is one of God's names, but not to be confused with the Jehovah Wittiness. I think the name Jehovah was uses in the old testaments mostly. But, Jesus said in the new testament to call God "Father", so most churches do, or they call Him, Heavenly Father.

Because it is the name that was hidden behind most translations, where the neutral "LORD" was used.
YHWH is the tetragrammatron or the Name of God, in Hebrew there are not vowels, so you have to know the vowels to insert in order to pronounce it correctly. The vowels in the name "Adonai" or lord were used in some old translations, and Jehovah came out. It is therefore a made up name, but a name indeed.

Because that is his name or some approximation of it Yahweh or similar. Hebrews did not spell out the name of God or many common words but had diacritical marks for them so the pronunciation has become muddled over time.
