Don't

Not as simple as that in Spanish, I'm afraid: you have to know what you're being told not to do.

For example: to translate an exchange like "I want to sing" - "No, please don't" - the Spanish would mean "don't sing" as in "Quiero cantar" - "¡Ay no, por favor! No cantes!

If you just want to stop a child doing something by saying "don't" you could say: "No hagas eso" = "don't do that"

mmm give me an example please.

but the best translation should be NO.

ex:

I don't love you- Yo NO te amo
I don't want to go- Yo NO quiero ir.

if you want it to know how to do the negative form of the verbs i can say you that you just add NO befor the verb or befor the pronoun:

ex:

Yo NO como- I don't eat
Yo NO le quiero- I don't love him.

Depends on the continuation of the rest of the sentence.

In theory ¨don´t¨ is no or no hagas - don´t do...

don´t = no
