Depending on your MOS...a reserve will be deployed. Especially for Marines, and Army. A great deal of soldiers are being deployed now. That means you fill in for the active duty soldiers who just left for Iraq. In most cases...yes.

You'd have to go through basic training... and then a tech school (the length of this varies depending on career choice.)
You're smart to realize we're at war right now, and yes - you'd probably get deployed, but not RIGHT away.

Depends on your career field and your base. I know folks that get deployed to combat zones every year, others that have never been, and every thing in between.

EVERYONE deploys, regardless of Branch and job.
However, you won't graduate boot/basic and be on the next flight to the sandbox. they WILL properly train you first.
