CJohn, the people can change any thing about the government at any time they want, if they feel strong enough about it.

People have free will but that doesn't mean they won't get a karmic reaction. They can change anything externally, but the laws of nature remain the same. No one can change the laws of nature. Only God. He can decide if He wants to free one from their Karma, or His pure representative can take their Karma like Jesus or Srila Prabhupada, or St Francis and so many great saints, but the laws can not be changed. They will get thier reaction. Unless one fully surrenders to God they will get their Karma. Even then we may get some token karma to help us learn some lessons, but in full surrender we don't bother about all this we just stop sinning and go on with our service. For info Read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- tells how to get rid of all Karma. asitis.com you can read it on line.

We do have the power to change them, but few think past the end of their nose...status quo ... the devil you know is safer than the devil you don't know.

We can elect officials on a platform of reforming the current laws, if any would run based on that idea.

That's what the Constitution says. We still have to obey the laws til they're changed.

In some countries you can.
If some law is made that conflicts with religious belief, then you have a problem, at least the believer does. Too often they'll cave.
