I would like to get a horse but i have a tight budget which would mean a horse possibly under the price of 500 US dollars. Let me know. Thanks.

you can look online at different websites like www.liverystable.net or www.horsetopia.com, you can go to auctions or look through the paper.

it's my opinion that you won't get much of a horse for $500, it will either be a colt that you can't ride yet or a problem or dangerous horse that someone is just trying to get rid of. be careful, you're better off spending 1200-1500 for a good horse than 500 on a problem.

I bought horses from the classified adds for many years...folks just get to where they dont use them any more and peddel them ...when i wanted some ponys for some deal, i called the Mantel boys and leased them over different periods, so i wouldnt have to pasture the dam things all winter..cheeper that way.
I think you can lease a horse for a summer for about 400 bucks.. but ...i could be suckin swamp water there.. that was 10- 12 years ago..and you got a prety sound pony too..shod, halter, and delivered. They even picked them up when the lease was over.... good deal for me...

Try a livestock auction, maybe you can get a good buy.
