I have recently discovered that, as well as lactose intolerant, I have "fructose malabsorption", i.e. fructose gives me stomach cramos and bloating. As my symptoms were getting bad, I decided to undergo a no-sugar diet (no sucrose, lactose or fructose). I can eat glucose and starch, so carbohydrates intake is not a problem.
I must have lost about 5 kg in 2 months, though! I never expected this to happen. I was quite light before (around 48Kg = 7st7lb = 105lb), but now I have reached almost skinny levels... Not that I mind too much, but why did I loose so much weight? I don´t think the total number of Kcal in my diet changed.

I forgot to say: the diet is working and I no longer have cramps, or even PMS! So I am not willing to stop it. Any alternative energy-boost food different from sugar?

Before anyone gives me more links to diets to loose weight: my diet was because of food intolerance and I was not trying to slim down! It has been happened as a side effect!

fructose is almost entirely metabolized in the liver. When fructose reaches the liver it goes bananas and stops everything else to metabolize the fructose. Eating fructose results not only in lower insulin levels but also lower leptin levels. Because both hormones are involved in appetite control, eating lots of fructose could increase the likelihood of weight gain.

as you stopped sugar, maybe your body just used up all of your fat as an energy supply, making you lose weight. I think you should see your doctor though, cos you might be doing something wrong or causing yourself damage as a result of change in diet. If i was you i'd be quite chuffed! (you wont want to get any more skinny though)

I THINK it's because simple sugar contains empty calories which, if aren't used for energy straight away, are converted straight into fat. That's why it's recommended for those attempting to lose weight to cut as much sugar out of their diet as possible.
...I think!!
