Would this be frowned upon?

ie take the best bits from either one.

yes, lots of people have done this,
they usually end up creating their own religion - that would be the more lucrative option, too

So do I - I take the best of any religion I feel like - at the minute I'm practiceing sex and drugs and rock and roll (that's a song title by the way!) On Monday I plan to worship a sacred cow, followed by lunch at Burger King. I tried the scientologist birth method while screaming - give me the f*ing epidural - NOW!!! My mother-in-law is a Jehovah's witness and I plan to introduce her to Christianity by crucifying her (no particular reason other than she's an old battle-axe)

Seriously though, what does it matter if you kneel, stand, or hop on one foot while you pray to God, Allah, Jehovah, Shiva or any other name that mere mortals have given to their diety(ies)? If there is a supreme being or "God" then wouldn't they judge you by your actions rather than your cultural roots (which is where most religious views stem from)? Life is about how you live it, not what label you wear. Live a good life, be a good and kind person and live in peace with your neighbour. You don't have to "fit into a box" and "belong" to a religion, find your own spirituality in your own way.

To steal a phrase from the late, great Dave Allan, "goodnight and may your God go with you"

If you look carefully, you'll see that most religions have things in common. There is still one god, no matter how each religion calls him. There are too many things to say about this subject so I'll stop here and advise you to follow your heart. The right answers for you are inside your soul / heart. You are the only one who can make decisions regarding your own life and you are the only one responsible for them

If you pick and choose what you want to believe and live by, then you are creating your own religion and are creating God to be a larger version of yourself. God has this to say about it.

Psalm 50:21 These things you have done and I kept silence;
You thought that I was just like you;
I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.

When God doesn't bring immediate judgment some people have a tendency to think God is just like they are, that He wouldn't disapprove of their life choices. He clearly doesn't agree.

God is a jealous God and wants all of your heart.

You can learn about what different religions teach. However, Matthew 6:24 says “No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other." It would be really hard to be devoted to 2 different faiths.

And taking the best bits from either one, you're kind of making your own religion meaning you belong to just one.

I dont follow a religeon but I go to a meditation class called satsang in which between meditations we read from all different religious texts and philosophies, whether it is taoist, christian, buddist, and various other, I find its about the lessons more than the actual religion, you dont need to label yourself to find your spirituality.

I think it would depend on the religions. I'm Christian, and I follow some of the Jewish religion. Being a Christian and with Jesus Christ as my personal savior I have freedoms to worship him with any religion I like as long as I don't worship another God.

Technically, you wouldnt be following 2 religions, because they'd probably be contradicting each other to an extent! So.. this would be your own kind of spiritual belief. Not technically a religion though :-)

Could you go to a Pentecostal, Benny Hinn style church and then go to Catholic mass in the same day and feel the same?
No, I don't think this could be done with a serious person, but one who really doesn't care and is doing it for fun could .
