i get really bad leg cramps--- sitting for a little while...only a couple of minutes and my leg goes numb and a horrible cramp sets in. ...after a while the pins nd needles set in....
but the cramps are awwful.
i went to the doctor.... (he wasnt v.helpful- never is).... he said it was normal.... bcus of arteries becoming compressed.... however i asked around noone suffers from pains like i have.....
i was reading on the net... about some salt deficiency...
anyone else have similarcramps....
you can't describe the pain maybe that was why the doctor thought it was normal... he thought it was normal numbness and pins and needles for sitting on your leg too long!
but its pain from keeping your leg stationary.....and the pain ...is like your muscles pulling taut. not only your calf muscles but all...from the buttocks.
anyone got any ideas what this can be?

sitting on the floor...for like five minutes,
when you get up... your legs upto your knees are completely cramped...and you can barely move...for the next five mins while you walk around trying to get your blood circulation moving you have pins and needles up to ur knees.

Maybe you're using a chair that doesn't fit you very well? Bad posture?
Anyway, for cramps, take a calcium supplement. Now, I know someone is going to come on here and tell you to take potassium and eat bananas but that's an old wives' tale. Salt won't help, either. Cramps are caused by a buildup of lactic acid in the muscles and the calcium helps dissolve it.
And see about getting a better chair.

Does your job entail sitting down for any length of time, like at school or office work? Only deep vein thrombosis comes to mind, when you describe the symptoms. Also do you drink plenty of fluid? As I know cramps can be due to lack of fluid, too! I would suggest that you see another doctor, a second opinion wouldn't hurt, would it? Be fore it gets any worse. Have a good day.

You need further testing. It could be something going on in your back. When a nerve is being pinched, it causes some of the symptoms you have. Find a specialist and have an MRI done. Don't take a chance with it.
