you will burn off fat, you wont lose lots and lots of weight. the reason for this is that muscles are generally heavier than fat, so while you are getting more fit and losing those extra inches, your muscles are building themselves up, and becoming heavier.
focus more on keeping fit rather than your actual weight. too many people diet to 'lose weight' then find they dont lose that much for that reason.
does that help at all?

Anyone can plateau at any time on any exercise program one they 'grow accustom' to the routine. To prevent plateau you need to increase your time, frequency or intensity. For walking, this would make walks longer, more frequent or faster or over harder terrain.
GENERALLY most plateaus hit at 6 weeks, so every 6 weeks change or add something. This should keep you clear until you have no more weight your body will lose in this way. (Your body fat drops to the point where you can not over come the "plateau" any longer without specific target training.)
Once you get to a comfortable weight, just keep amount of energy going into it an you should maintain yourself.

as the personal trainer said, yes it will happen. the body is very clever and gets used to and adapts to what you do to it, therefore you'll need to up your game in order to continue to lose significant fat. obviously, keep up the walking; this will help to maintain what you've achieved but you'll need to include some more intense cardio in your regime like jogging. it'll be easy to slot this into your current walking routine; just do it at intervals - walk for 10 minutes to warm up then run for 2 minutes, walk for 2 minutes and so on. You could also try cycling around you neighbourhood or go swimming etc etc.
hope that helps!

walking is not the best cardio exercise out there - actually you cant even call it cardio because cardio is exercise that rises your heart rate to fat burning levels and makes you sweat and the more you push yourself the better. walking is more like spending more calories during the day in general.
when you hit a plateau you will have to start doing some serious cardio - running, jogging, cycling, swimming etc., combine it with light weight training to tone muscles and not lose them (cardio burns fat AND muscle) more muscle=faster metabolism

Yes it's true, but it won't happen until your bodyfat is pretty low. So just keep doing what you're doing. You may have to pick it up a bit and start jogging. But remember, diet is key. You should be eating good, wholesome foods, such as meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, fruit, whole wheat bread, etc. Good luck.
