They definitely kill squirrels and rabbits. If a BB or pellet hits a person in the right place like they eye or temple, it could be lethal.

Just take a length of steel pipe about 18 inches long, and hit them once very hard on back of the head, quick and humane. Then leave for the fox, or bury it. Saves all the air gun rigmarole. As a pistol would not really be the ideal tool, and an air rifle would be a pain to carry along with your fishing gear. By the by, myxi rabbits are edible but look so disgusting it puts you off !

Yes. Some airguns are being used to kill large game animals like deer. At one time the french used airguns for some of their troops since they did not leave a smoke cloud like the black powder guns did.

I also work part time as an EMT and we had a fatality in which a 14 y.o. was shot just off his sternum, the pellet penetrated into the heart and the boy bled out before he could be taken into surgery.

YES! During the Napoleonic wars, before rubber seals, machine lathes, and all that, they had them. Snipers with air guns took such a heavy toll on marching columns that anyone found with them was killed, on the SPOT!

More recently, I think last January, Check the archives of the Wichita, Ks. Eagle Beacon newspaper. There was a kid that fatally shot his mother with a Gamo air rifle from Wal-mart when she tried to kill his grandfather.

I know they seem fairly innocuous, but they ARE guns, and they CAN kill.

About a month ago here in Iowa, a pair of brothers were messing around shooting rabbits and birds and such with BB guns on their rural farm when the 12 year old somehow got shot in the eye with a BB. He died in less than a day, I do not know specifically what the BB hit to kill him. But a good rule with handling guns is; whether loaded or not, never point the gun at anything that you do not wish to destroy. A good lesson to learn and always remember when it comes to handling firearms.

They are capable of causing fatal injuries, but what isn't when misused?
As long as one is very safe with these air rifles and pistols and always obeys the rules of gun safety, no one will get hurt by them.

BB guns, and Pellet guns, pending on how much pressure is used can cause death or serious injurys. If you want something to shoot around with not as much danger, i would suggest Air-soft BB guns. Plastic BBs that sting some when you get hit by them, but still are safer alternatives to the more possibly more leathel BB/Pellet weapons.

Anything that fires a projectile can be considered having the potential of doing some serious bodily damage...even death, if the projectile happens to strike the body in the right place with the right amount of force.

The high powered air rifles that send .177 or .22 pellets at 1000+ FPS can absolutely kill if they hit certain places ie. in the eye.

Yes, if you get shot in the stomach with a co2 powerd bb pistol that goes 425 fps from 100 feet away then it goes into you about an inch.
