For all my life I have had long hair down to my butt.(lol) Lately Ive been wondering what I would look like in shorter hair but it feels like my mom really wants me to keep my long hair cuz she says its "beautiful" and I dont want to let her down but I really want to see what I look like with shorter hair (but not to short) I have even tried the phrase "it will grow back" and she still hasent even budged! So I need some suggestions!

Hey, I feel your pain. My friend had the same exact problem!! For such a long time her dad wouldn't let her cut her hair. It was down to her butt too!!!! Here's what you should do:
1. Sit down and talk to your mom. If you and your mom argue a lot (like me and mine) then make sure that you are calm, collected, and act like you want to really talk seriously to her. Tell her your honest feelings, BUT NICELY!!!!!!!!!!!! If I were you I would say something like, Mom, I respect your opinion about my hair, but after all, it is MY hair. If you wanted to change the style of yours then I wouldn't tell you you couldn't. Having my hair down to my butt is a real pain and I think that I deserve to cut it. I'm not going to cut it super short, but I just want my hair really pretty, yet still long. PLEASE consider it.

LEAVE IT AT THAT.

2. Maybe in a couple days bring it back up. This way it gave her time to think.

My friend did this and within a week her parents allowed her to get it cut.
You MUST remember to remain calm, no matter how frusterated you are, and connect with your mom.

I hope this helped, good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Listen it's your hair. If you want to cut it, cut it.
It's not as if you're asking for a tattoo or a piercing or something, book an appointment at a local hair salon and just go and get it cut.

Preferably, find a picture of a haircut you really, really like and show that to your mum so she knows exactly what you or a hairdresser plans to do.

The longer the better; I think a couple inches above the elbow would look really nice, or if you're brave even to mid-back, that way it'll still be long hair but it will be much, much easier to care for and won't get in the way nearly as much as before.

Hope this helps and that you end up with the hairstyle you want! :)

teach her a image of a action picture star who seems girly yet on the comparable time stylish in short hair, then only tell your mom that doesn't she look particularly. Or tell her which you're having a tricky time inclusive of your hair, that it truly is taking various time just to get it performed. She might desire to understand.

Find one of the organizations that collects hair for children who have had cancer treatments that cause them to lose their hair.

Tell your mom that your beautiful hair will help some other child be beautiful and that you would like to try it a little shorter.

If you pitch it right she will be so proud of you for sharing your gift that she won't have a way to refuse your request.

dont do it to anger your mom, you can both be happy. dont do a drastic change because that is your hair and maybe a small 2 inches on the ends will make you feel better. Do not cut your hair in anger because that hair is your crowning glory.

tell her its too much work to maintain. that its constantly a mess b/c its so long. it takes forever to wash and blow dry. or that you think that really long hair makes you look like you can't afford a hair cut (worked for my friend lol).

lastly just try explaining to her that you don't want to offend her but this is about you. and that you really want to have your hair different. assure her that your hair will still be beautiful just different. that you want a more "grown" up look. hair that long is for 10 yr olds.

Just tell her that you want a change for now, and that if you don't like it it will grow back. Or just go and do it, and come back to show her.

Tell her:

* I get constant headaches.
* It gets in the way.
* People pull my hair.
