I pranged my car and the insurace company decided it was a write off. Now, before they settle they are looking for a copy of the nct cert! I have just discovered it is out of date. How much trouble I am in! I have taxed and insured the car since this cert lapsed and noboby asked for it then.

If your policy requires a current NCT, they probalby don't have to pay the claim if you don't have a current test. Not sure of the fine points of law in Ireland on that, but in UK if you don't have a current test certificate you can't legally operate the vehicle on the road and insurance is automatically void.

With your case I suggest you should consult other car insurance companies where you can get ideas and other opinions regarding your problem...

You can find car insurance company listings in UK and Ireland in this site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com I hope that will help you.
