Don't listen to these rude people. When I was in 7th grade that was popular thing to do. It won't lighten your hair though. It will turn it the color you used. It will look really bad to be honest.
If you go to Walmart or Target any of those stores theres this stuff called " Sun In" it comes with lemon juice in it and there are different stages for what type of hair color you have now. The spray only costs like $5.00 dollars. The sun or a hair dryer is how it starts changing your color to lighten it up.
Hope this helps.

My friends and I dyed our hair with Kool-aid when I was younger, I had blonde hair and they had dark brown. Their hair did not show much except maybe the red and blue. It was not bright and will not make it lighter. It does however bleed the color from your hair for a while after you dye it. So after you shower and your hair is wet it will also put that color off on what ever your hair leans up against. With dark brown you will not see yellow at all. You can use any color and you will not see it drastically. By the way you do not add the sugar and use HOT water to mix it with. My mom however was not happy with my doing this because it does not come out easily.

Koolaid does not have any chemicals capable
of changing your haircolor.Sorry sis, at best it might stain your clothes, skin, the bathtub,(ooh,
not the "good" towels). The sun can add some
highlights.Go to a beauty school.Trust a hairdresser.Creme bleach,tints,toners lighten
hair.Strategically placed strands of lighter and
darker hair can create a 'dimensional' effect.
that is so beautiful. It will spoil you for sure!
OTC over the counter products can't replace
a skilled,creative,cosmetologist.How exciting!

Whatever color strikes your fancy. Just be sure to use sugar-free. Kool Aid with sugar in it can attract bees, flies, and sometimes even birds to your hair.

WTF? ok, who lied to you!! kool aid is a drink mix!! and it will ruin you hair.
plus they don't put a bleaching agent in the cool-aid so it's not going to lighten your hair..ugh! if you want to lighten dark brown hair think like this....baby steps! you need to lift shade -by-shade. and give your hair time to heal between bleaching. but trust me sweetheart...blond is not really it. if you have natural dark brown hair, and you bleach it Blondie...or lighten it...your eyebrows are gonna give you away instantly!....leave it brown...at least it will make you look smarter!

It doesn't work like that. KoolAid won't bleach your hair a lighter color, it will only deposit color on hair that is already light.

I depends on what color you want
for like a pinkish color/tint you can use cherry or fruit punch.
if you want like a yellowish tint use lemon-lime or lemonade

If you want your hair lighter, use lemon juice and go out into the sun or blow dry it.
