Ok, here is what i have learned about Land Rovers in the United States. ***Only buy a pre-owned Land Rover from an authorized Land Rover dealership OR from a true die- hard over-the-top Rover enthusiast.*** If the thing has not been properly maintained, you will more than likely have problems that even a trained mechanic will not be able to foresee. I know for a fact that my local dealership will only keep the "best" Land Rovers they receive from trade-in, and the rest go to auction or "swapped" with various makes dealerships. Also, usually as a pre-owned buying incentive, many Land Rover dealerships will cover up to a certain $ amount of repairs. Especially if the Rover you buy from them is vintage or a special edition, such as anything Camel Trophy or a Defender 90 or 110. These are pretty rare here in the U.S. My beloved battered (but properly maintained lol) old Land Rover is the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned, I will always own one. Best wishes with yours!

I wuld definitely take this car to a mechanic and get it THOROUGHLY checked out. They will be able to tell you whether it is worth the price I will tell you that Land Rover products generally do not have great repair records. Even models that are less than 14 years old have reliability issues. They are also expensive to repair once something does go wrong.

The best thing to do is take it to a trusted mechanic, and have him look at it. He can tell you what's wrong with it, and how much it cost to fix. Then, you can determine if it's worth it.
