Everytime I stand for a period of time (about 15 minutes or longer) the soles of my feet start to hurt, the longer I'm standing the more it hurts. When I'm up walking around it still hurts, but hurts less than when just standing. I can't stand or walk for more than about 30 minutes before it starts to hurt bad & I can not be on my feet more than an hour without having to sit down. If I sit down it will stop hurting but as soon as I stand up it hurts again. I'm usually on my feet about half of the day. My feet even hurt when just standing 20 minutes to take a shower. My guess is its probably arch problems, as I know everyone has a different arch & arch problems can pretty much be the same. Would this be my problem as well? Is there anything I can do to stop my feet from hurting for that I can actually stand up a while & be on my feet for hours, pain free? I am obese, however not SEVERE like some people. I weigh about 225 lbs and about 5'7", I am about 75 lbs overweight.

I was having a similar problem and finally found a pair of great shoes. I bought danskin (sp?) shoes and it made a world of difference they were under 20$ and I feel so much better. I find it is more comfortable to wear them than to go bare foot.
I also in the past have tried the gel heel and arch supports and liked them too.
You might consider having your thyroid checked, foot pain can be one of many symptoms related to hypothyroidism, especially if there is any family history.
Good luck
