Do you not know the difference between the OT and the NT? Christians were not yet Christians in the OT. And also, you take scripture out of context. Did Abraham kill his son? No. It was a demonstration of faith towards God, by Abraham. God did not let Abraham strike down his son, if you would do us the honor of completing the entire story.

So no, we do not do sacrifices. And neither did the Jews.

Riot: God was testing Abraham's faith in Him by giving Abraham this instruction. Abraham was halted by God from following through - Abraham is now, called the "father of the faithful". To a Christian, this title has lots of spiritual connotation to it. Remember; the Old Testament of the Bible was setting the stage for the New Testament where it is possible for humans to have a spiritual relationship with his or her God through grace through faith.

God stopped Abraham from performing the sacrifice. He was testing Abraham to see if he would obey him in all things or not. It is also a foreshadowing of the sacrifice of Christ, the Son of God, for our redemption. The difference is that Christ voluntarily went to the cross for us.

hmmm ill tackle this one, the lesson here is not, that God wanted to take the life of the child, He promised to Abraham, instead what is to be gleaned from this story is Abrahams obedience to God, which infact led to many more blessings.

no christianity does not do the whole human sacrafice stuff (minus out jesus). that story was suppose to be like...testing how much u love god over EVERYONE and YES that includes family members. so more testing how much your willing to follow "god" no matter how stupid or crual his orders are.

Self sacrifice isn't the comparable as human sacrifice. Christ replaced into crucified. the human beings who killed him weren't doing it with the point of giving God some sacrificial "offering". Christ laid down his existence for his friends. that's love, that's honor. A soldier in Iraq did that at the instant. Threw his physique on good of a grenade i think of so his friends does no longer get blown up alongside with him. that's love. Christ's loss of existence and resurrection ushered in the age of grace. until now Christ, mankind replaced into decrease than a curse for his or her sins, and the only grace replaced into to the Israelites as long as they did their billions of rules, which they did no longer and subsequently have been additionally cursed.

But from what I remember, the old Abe didn't actually do the dirty deed, just show that he was willing to murder his son for some imaginary being. Makes you think about these people, eh?
