Beautiful, not in my opinion...I was the younger woman in a 13 yr relationship. I was 19 when it began. Here is the 1st problem-I grew up, and he didn't. Once I no longer held the appearance and innocence that went along with being 19 he began losing interest and once again began shopping in the "jr miss section". The 2cd problem is that when there is such a big age difference-the man usually develops a "daddy" persona, which can be fun at first, but often turns into a control issue-where he feels he has the right to tell you what you can do, who you can go out w/, ect... The biggest problem I had with it was not being given the opportunity to experience the trials and tribulations that are associated with "growing" up-he assumed since HE had already "been there, done that", that I didn't need to have that experience, because he already had...I was also punished for wanting to through the "phases" of turning 21, being a 20something...he had his wild and crazy youth, but I was denied mine-again because he had already done it-and did not see the need for me to do it as well. The young girl/old man senario is OK for a fling, but not a good idea for a long term relationship.

As long as your lady friend is happy, and doesn't take her mom too seriously, ignore the old bat!

She is probably just jealous.

And remind Mama that a 42 year-old has no business being in a cradle.

Longer life and much happiness to both of you.

umm well your both adults. if u like each other, her mom isnt a problem. tell her to butt out. i mean, the age difference isnt really an issue. thats to say if shes like 13 you'll be 41.....which is not usual....but shes 42 now, which makes it a lot differnt. so go for it. who cares what her mom says. as long as you make hre happy. her mom needs to get a life. and stop focusing on her 42 daughter :P

think mom is jealous? your both over 21 right so what's wrong with that? now if she was under 18 i would say different, but as long as you both are happy let mom think what she wants, but do what you want!!! go be happy far away from mom!!! 42 is no child she is old enough to make up her own mind!

70 and 42....sounds like you are both adults and it isn't any of her mother's business. It also isn't the business of anyone here either. At your age you should be able to make decisions about your intimate relations all on your own. If you think it is wrong end it, if you think it is fine continue. It's noone's business but your own and noone's opinion matters but your own.

I think the mom is just jealous. Don't worry so much about it. Your girlfriend shouldn't really care what her mom thinks anymore. You sound like you're having fun. Think about Hugh Hefner, he's about your age and he has a 21 year old girlfriend (plus 2 others who are in their late 20s). Good luck!

Her mother is jealous, but you shouldn't just disregard her--because of the strength of the traditional mother-daughter relationship. Your girlfriend might not like it if you brush off her mother, but also won't like if you get too close. You know how to recognize the boundaries, so just follow your girlfriend's lead in these matters.

You're not too old. You're not even twice her age.

Look at Hugh Hefner. He's dating girls who are one fourth his age.

I just read a question about a 20 year old dating a 15 year old but 70 is too far. Should you be planning your retirement or something? Find some other old lady.... no offense.

42 is a child? Please! Mom is a little too old to learn to butt out, but your lady friend should tell her to anyway. If you guys are happy, that's what counts.
