They will only work against a limited number of incoming birds, if they work at all.

There's gotta be a better way to throw half a trillion dollar bills in the trash.

Yeah, mr. cool and breezy: that was a productive response. Did you work hard at that answer, or did it just come naturally.

Technology...lasers....blah blah. When you have two objects with possible closure speeds upwards of 10,000 mph, things will go wrong.

Like I said, there must be a better way. You want to rely on a 0.08% chance a missile shield will work?

Star Wars has been a fraud since the Reagan Crime Family came up with the concept

When will they tire of it ?

When corporations tire of stealing U.S. tax dollars

because their government is certainly never going to force corporations to stop stealing our tax dollars...partners in crime

MDS has a 0% yes that's ZERO PERCENT success in any and every test ever conducted! The famous "patriot missile defense missile" in the first gulf war had a 2% kill rate...most of Saddam's Scuds broke apart all by themselves. Even if they had a 100% success rate that just encourages the "enemy" to launch everything they have all at once...Russia has about 15,000 warheads on 5,000 ICBMs and "missle defense" will just provoke an all out attack.

This whole idea is a pure money scam to put cash into Ratheon's pocket. Not to mention it is totally RETARDED...just like Ronnie Raygun and Curious George the Chimp Bush.

It must be working, the friggin Russians are all bummed about it. When they aren't happy with something, they criticize it, and missile defense is the one thing they are afraid of regarding US and western Europe defenses.

If the Russians didn't have some nasty plan in the works, they would have no reason to be concerned about western Europe wanting to defend itself.

As it is, Russia is doing everything it can to get western Europe by the shorts. If I lived in western Europe, the damned Russians, under Putin, is the last country I would want to be beholding to !

When our enemies no longer have missiles with nuclear warheads. When rogue states and terrorists stop trying to get their hands on them. When China points all 18 of it's ICBMs away from us.

BTW, Anti missile defenses have already been proven in combat. 1991: Saddam was throwing SCUD missiles all over the middle east. Patriots (portable missile defense system) shot down many (though not all) of these saving untold numbers of lives and helping to keep Israel out of the war.

Technology improves every day. Besides if you want to get blown up one day that's your thing, but me im all for at least some protection from getting missles shot at me.

The military has laser technology in TESTING for shooting down things like incoming artillary not to mention missiles so if a president wants to us closer to some kind of protection all the more power to him.

Also did you know Moscow has a missle defence system, so why can't the US build ours too, the Russians got one.

Never. Their buddies have pilfered billions of our tax dollars on a boondoggle that requires no results.

The beauty is that even if they created something that could stop a missile that transmits a homing/targeting signal, which they can't do yet, someone will, of course, improve their missiles, leading us to have to invest more to upgrade in non-existent technology.

I hope they don't get sick of it. It's my dream to get into that business....

These projects make so much money for the companies that these people are involved with, that it's not a question of whether they will work. Creating a reason to make them and pour the taxpayers' money into their personal bank accounts will be a top priority for them pretty much forever.

I'm sure that's what young people were saying about spending for war technology in 1925.
