Francis Scott Key -- there are more street-smart people, in my opinion.

I'd say there are more book smart people as there are more opportunities for education than ever before. However, I think that the level of education has declined and that people are reading less than ever before. I think we've gotten less intelligent over the years, and popular culture has made the average person not care about becoming learned.
I also think street-smarts count for less than before - social skills are still important, but it's much tougher to be disadvantaged because you don't know how things work - you can always google anything and find an answer.

street smart i guess. people are too busy to read nowadays.
