Perhaps i could give you more complete and accurate information if i knew what it is that you are speaking of.
If people are unable to read or write, and have no understanding of religion, then what is, exactly, your intent?

Also before you go on your mission to preach the "religion" to the illiterate masses I suggest you brush up on your own literacy. Kinda like the blind leading the deaf you know? By the way, the way you have your question worded puts me in mind of Lennin, Trotsky & Marx, even of Hitler. I hope and pray you are not of that ilk.

"Those" who are "illiterate" would probably better become so with the useage of proper grammar...
Console them on what matter, may I ask? If they lost a loved one or are in doubt themself of the existance of God, I would suggest reading up on their own doctrine and console them based on that, seeing as their own religion might be easier for them to cling to in a time of hardship.
