I always hear Christians saying this.

"See I have nothing to loose with my beliefs you have everything to loose with yours. So if I am wrong oh well but if you are wrong"

I copied this comment from this site.

Why do you lie when you see that you will lost nothing in your belief. You are losing your soul.
remember the verse in the bible that says like this.- "What has gained a man if he owns the whole world but lost his own soul" Your wealth, your money, your healthy body today, your hondsomeness, your loving wives, your property and everything which is within you will be nothing when you die but lost your soul

I would be careful with using the absolutes... it makes your argument worthless.

SOME Christians say SOME things... because by the way - My beliefs are fear based. I "fear" the Lord. But in the good way; not the bad way. I am not afraid OF Him. I respect and revere Him.

Perhaps, you should talk to a few more Christians and not classify them all under your experiences and misunderstandings... and of course; Don't knock it (Jesus!) till you try it!

God Bless!

That quote doesn't say Christian beliefs aren't fear-based, it's just the idea of having something to fall back on, if at the end of life's road, there actually IS someone there that judges you according to your deeds. It's not "oh no, god's out to get me!" No, it's not that, more of a "but just in case there actually is something there..." kind of thing. A safety precaution, if you will. :]

Not everyone is a gifted speaker/writer, and not everyone whom claims to be a Christian in here ARE one....

My daughter told me how she often looks at the profile of those asking questions, and found that quite a number of them claimed to be one thing in their questions, and another thing in their profile....

....so, I have been checking that out sometimes too....and she was correct.

As for your question , I guess in a way you are correct and that actually all Christians Belief is based on "fear"....but not the way you are suggesting....

"Fearing" the Lord has a totally different meaning then fear meaning being frightened or scared of Him....It is respect, Love, honor, etc.,.

True, no-one wants to think of going to hell, but, personally I think it's because if we go to hell, we WON'T be WITH God... and, that's the type of fear a child has for a parent....and fearing of hurting Jesus by failing, especially after all He has done for us, and not being able to be near HIM as well.

However, for most children of God, that "fear" would be just as horrible if we didn't have them in our lives now that we "know" them.....

Why do people lump others into categories based on a shared religious belief?

What you're describing is a "fundamentalist zealot" which is usually the problem in all religions, regardless of religion. The "I'm right, you're wrong, you're going to hell/an infidel/etc." type is a zealot, and hardly the representative of a religion as a whole.

I wouldn't recommend stereotyping groups but you're still free to state your opinion thank God.

It's more like spiritual extortion. Interesting to know that when they ripped off the Jewish religion they iced the cake with an eternal hell. Personally I think perversion should stay in the bedroom where it belongs. But It is there right to believe whatever they chose. And not very decent of the rest of us to bad mouth them for it. Wish them peace and happiness instead, G-d loves them too.

I do not fear God and as I see it, the quote you made from another answer doesn't say anything about fear. It speaks of the fact that if a Christian is wrong...it will make no difference to what happens to him or her at the end of life on this planet...but if you are wrong...then it could make a great deal of difference to what happens to you. That is not a threat...it is the promise God gave us. i.e. to spend eternal life in his presence. I don't have a clue what else if anything would happen to you as I do not depend on the teachings of any religion to determine my faith in God. I depend on my own experiences with Him. He is awesome.

They are in it for the 'rewards' not for their own spiritual enlightenment. Means they don't know anything about the God they serve. And if they say "if I'm wrong, oh well" they could never have known true faith.
Most of them are basing their beliefs on fear. That's too bad that they can't know anything beyond that. They are still blind.

Its two sides to the same coin. If you are in fellowship with the Heavenly Father there is no fear. However if we are disobedient expect a spanking. That as expressed is an over simplification but here is something more for you to chew one.http://www.emjc3.com/helland.htm

It's not fear based when you love Jesus and find out how sweet he is, I would love to kiss his feet if I had the chance. His sweetness will tug at your heart strings. G-d said eye have not seen, nor ear heard, or even entered into the mind of men, the things G-D has for those that love him. I want to see those things. Don't you. Mankind cannot even imagine what is in heaven. Again you have nothing to loose by believing, and everything to loose by not believing. G-D bless and good luck.

In order to perpetuate the belief in the religious fairytale, and in the face of so much overwhelming conflicting evidence, a great deal of ignorance, denial, misquotes, misinformation and outright lies must be both offered and accepted by this lot..

So any one example of denial and/or ignorance only lets them off the hook with all the other trash they spruik..!!
