How do I reduce the squeakiness of chalk when I write on a blackboard?

A whiteboard would be nice, but it's not my choice.

Slant the chalk more. Don't press so hard.

my 5th grade teacher soaked her chalk in water for just a tiny bit before using it, and that seemed to help, also, just write lightly
