my ortho used to give me strips of silicon when i first got braces..i still have em n bleve me sweetie after a while u dont feel a thing...i say dont rely on the silica n wax n stuff coz it'll take dat much longer for ur cheeks to get used to it. also check with ur doc if u have stray wires stickin out by mistake coz once i ate somethin n a wire came stickin out (i still dunno how these things happen) n was a right pain in my cheek..so either silicon strip or stray wires...get it checked...take care

Like everyone else said, get wax and use a lot of it. Also, rinsing with warm salt water seems to help, even though it doesn't taste great. When I first got my braces I covered every bracket with wax before bed and my mouth would feel a lot better in the morning. Don't worry, your mouth will toughen up soon and they won't hurt your cheeks anymore!

When I had braces they used to give me some wax to put on the braces for just the purpose. However, you will get used to them and they will stop scratching your cheek and lips.

You should have gotten wax from the orthodontist. Try putting some on between cheek and brace.

Call the orthodonist then get an appointment. Put some wax the ortho gives you or just leave it like that until ur inner skin of your mouth gets use to it. Thrust me on this i have braces.

if this is by chance at the back of ur mouth where the scratching is, then sounds like the wire may need to be clipped a little shorter. you can check by putting ur finger back there and if it feels sharp, then that wire needs to be clipped some more. sometimes they won't clip it good enough. in the mean time, u can use some oral wax.

if you're handy with tools & have a small "needle-nose" pliers, perhaps you can adjust the bracket to where it isn't stabbing you. don't do anything major or you could mess up the braces. you can't go all week being scratched & stabbed at. if the wax isn't staying on & you don't have the pliers or maybe don't want to try that, then maybe a good time to try a small wad of gum on it. if nothing else, call the dentist's office tomorrow & see if they have advice on what to do while waiting for your appt.

Call your Orthodontist or Dentist. Try putting cotton balls in your cheecks, sounds stupid but it may just work! Even at night or when you wont be talking? Good luck and I hope they stop hurting you :) xx

get out your wax...and thats about it hon. if you want, there is a topical numbing aide you can get at the drug-store, the kind that moms put on their baby's gums when they are teething. its like numb for 3 or 4 minutes, then its back...

HELLO LINDSAY,
THE INSIDES OF YOUR CHEEKS WILL GRADUALLY GET USED TO THEM, BUT YOU CAN USE SOME DENTAL BRACE WAX FROM YOUR ORTHODONTIST OR MOST PHARMACIES.
