Since it is a condo I dont have to worry about yard stuff. Primarily I want to know kitchen things you really do use (I lived in a dorm through all of college so I couldn't really have any kitchen gadgets). I also would like to know what other objects do you wish you had when you first moved out.

my dad bought me a teensy meensy little saucepan, just big enough for 2 eggs... if you can afford it get a decent set of saucepans as they will last forever if you get good ones.

don't go nuts on heaps of appliances, they take up tons of space and once the novelty wears off you never use them again. good ones to get are food processors or blenders as you will use them for soups, cocktails and a number of other things. if you have the $ get a Kenwood chef, it's a mixer, but you can get every single appliance attachment in the whole world. I love mine and wish i'd gotten it much earlier in the picture (and then having less crap everywhere). If money is an issue, then just settle for a stick blender until you can upgrade to some better stuff, my dad got one which has all different attachemnts, adn one of them is like a mini food processor bowl with the blades in it.

good luck

Microwave, toaster, coffee pot. Cooking utensils, silver ware, plates, bowls, cups, glasses. Pots and pans. Baking pans and serving/mixing bowls if you bake. Trash can with a lid maybe.Paper or plastic cups and plates may be a good idea too. Just in case you end up with 8 people for Chinese. Don't forget a hand operated can opener and a bottle opener. Everyone has different habits for eating so you will have to think about yours. That will tell you what you need.
