If, let's just say, Islam was the prominent and most openly recieved religion in the United States and Christianity happened to be the dominating force in the Middle East, and a small percentage (minute percentage, to be exact) of Middle Easterners who happened to "claim" to follow Christianity implimented and carried out an attack upon the United States, and the media placed blame on all Christians, how would you, as an honest and loving, loyal in your faith Christian feel about the attacks on your group of people and furthermore, how would you feel if you found out that people were spreading hateful deciet and harsh, explicit and incorrect propoganda about your beliefs across the internet? What would you do to correct the situation? What would you think about what people were saying about you? How would you respond? Would you blame them for being prejudice against you despite the fact that they knew nothing about you?

Not to argue with you but while I completely understand that Christianity is not flawless and that we as a Christian people have dealt with our share of heartache and "false advertisment" nothing, and I really mean nothing, compare to what some Muslims are dealing with now in response to our current world affairs.

BTW David, I've been a Christian for 21 years and I majored in Islamic Studies in college, and recieved no lower than a B in each class dealing directly with Islamic teachings, Islamic Law, The Qur'an and the Life of the Prophet Muhammad (pboh).....You want to talk about the similiarities and differences between Christanity and Islam, feel free to email me.

Plainly put, I'd be pissed.

I'd be pissed at the people who attack in my name.

I'd be pissed at the ignorance of the other side for failing to deal with the problem properly.

I'd be pissed at history of my culture which gives credence to false rumors about it.

I'd be pissed at the Earth itself for having resources distributed in a way that our misaligned cultures had to have any contact at all.

But most especially, I'd be pissed at my parents for remaining slaves to a barbaric set of beliefs and valuing adherence to them more than my familiy's safety.

This is true regardless of how you juggle the religions.

This would be a valid questions if religions all taught completely similar values but that is not the case. Islam was started by a man named Mohammed who raped, murdered and pillaged across Arabia to spread his dillusions from a cave experience with an "angel". Jesus on the other hand never raped, killed or stole from anyone and teaches you to love your enemy and neighbor. So, if the middle east were still Christian as it was before the Muslims stole it from the Christians it would be peaceful. If the West was Muslim than it would have been the aggressor. Simple enough. Oh and the anti-Christian crowds two favorite examples of Christian violence (the Reconquista/Inquisition in Spain, and the Crusades) were both reactions to Islamic conquests of Christian lands. So, yes we do get violent but only when attacked by 7th century thugs.

Study the life of Jesus and then the life of Mohammed and then tell me they are equal religions.

Wow this is a very good question. I say the best I saw yet on these Internet Community Sites. The thing is though with your question even though it's hypothetical is that the Islam faith (even back to the founder of Muhammad always believed in a holy war or Jihad as they called it. They just wanted to spread the religion through force, fear, and war. I know your just switching roles but I will answer question. I would feel resentment also. I wouldn't quite understand why this was happening. I would feel fear but I wouldnt use violence to solve the problem.

I would go to the White house and publicly denounce all of the Christian suicide bombings. I would denounce the Christian terrorist groups and all they stand for. I would get together with the sane of the Christians and form a ban or coalition against such leaders, even if it meant my death. Because the death tole is a heavy one. I would threaten to ban the Christian religion if it continues in that insanity, because it so totally goes against Christ's teachings.
You would too if you were an Iraqi Christian woman married to an extremely abusive American Muslimin husband.( Or maybe I would be the abuser as a Christian, huh?)

(That can get pretty complicated, rather like a tongue twister.)

It would be a different world If Muslim were the peaceful ones. which would go against Mohammed's life teachings about the infidel.

Very true! I wonder what we would do?

I guess we would denounce the violence in our name. But then the "free press" in America will not report it and those "Muslims" in America will continue to ask you, "why don't you denouce the violence?"

I bet we, the "Muslims" of America, would invade them in the MIddle East to "liberate" them. We would bomb their countries, kill houndreds of thousands of people, litter their streets with rotting flesh of the dead, destroy infrastructure, and lock their people up in proson camps and torture them for information. And when they start to fight back, we would say, "These people are animals, they don't even thank us for liberating them"

Anyway, bigotry and hate is on both sides and it cannot be eliminated by bigotry and hate. We would have to step back and take a deep look at the situation and proceed peacefully and calmly and resolve issues through collaboration and compromise. Unfortunately, that is difficult because the violence and hopelessness in the Middle East did not start yesterday. It has been going on for years and we've done a good job of fomenting it too.

"What if" you begin to deal with reality? No offense, but "What if...?" questions usually ignore the facts, and always develop an ill-conceived analogy along the way.

Reject Islam, and Muslims put you on a "hit list."
Reject Jesus, and the Christians will pray for you.

You really need to check out the words of the Qur'an:

Well, dah, you are explaining exactly what happened to the first Christians after Christ died. Back when the Romans and Jews went after them. And baby, muslims persecuted the christians very harshly in the old days too.

Every religion gets it's heyday.

There have been plenty of times in history that the roles were reversed. Christians do NOT have a flawless history of peace.
People tend to only hear and believe what they want to...it is so sad...
