better said, is there a free tool that will help me fix it. For example, when I turn it on, and the little bar appears under Windows XP like its loading, it takes ages.
I am almost positively sure the computer is acting like this because someone has been downloading or just corrupting it by doing wrong stuff. (Like disconecting the power source everytime it freezes..... that's my dad, who also spends up to eight hours a day playing solitaire and pressing yes on anything that pops up)
I tried system restore and it is the same. So, I thought also I could create recovery disks and then restore the computer to its state when new, it's an option it gives me.
Any better ideas?
Thank you!!!

All of these program I have listed for you use little or no resources.

If all fails, you should see if you need more memory. You may have to purchase say 516MB of memory depending on how much you already have installed. As you don't say anything about your hardware.

I know how to fix it! yeah! a question i can answer! whoo! my sis showed me how to do it. ok here's wut you do. on your internet window, there should be a little toolbar and it has home, print, etc. if you don't have it, right click the top where the toolbars go and click on status bar. then under tools, click delete browsing history. A window pops up and it has a lot of choices on wut to delete. u need to delete the cookies, temporary files ur computer saves off the internet, and ur internet should go faster. it is easier to just delete all... it may take a while to delete.

if it isn't ur internet, just ur comp in general, then you go to the windows task manager (on my comp it is cont, alt delete) and go to processes. delete anything that has all caps, or you know for sure you don't need. just don't delete the explorer or the spools. if your computer starts shutting down, don't worry, it doesn't hurt it. learn wut you shouldn't delete and anytime ur comp is going slow delete w/e u can.

if you have norton on ur computer, scan for viruses just incase. this helps, too.

it may be just ur reception. do u have wireless, like me?

also, keeping ur computer on isn't a bad thing. your comp shouldn't have to shut down and start up every single time you get off.

hope this helps!

Sometimes if it has many problems, virus infections, spyware, corrupted registry, etc. I will skip with the scans and reformat and reinstall the OS.
