Doing crunches will not help you lose much weight. There is no such thing as spot reducing. Spot reducing is the incorrect theory that to lose fat in one particular area you must exercise that area. To lose fat, you should do a full body routine, or you could focus on fat burning exercises, like running, swimming, or jumping rope. If you do 1,000 crunches a day, you won't lose the fat you want to lose, but your stomach muscles will look great underneath that layer of fat. Once you do lose the weight, then you will see those muscles. Good luck.

none. crunches build muscle, they dont burn fat.
the only fat burning exercise is cardio, do it 4-6 times a week for 30-50min and combine with light weight training to not lose any muscle (more muscle=faster metabolism)
