Please no insulting answers. This is a genuine question that deserves an answer beyond "stop drinking".

I drink one night a week, at most. The frequency isn't a problem, it is the volume. I never stop with a drink or too. I never stop until I'm either sick or in a fight. Are there treatment centers that specialize in binge drinking? It seems like I would not qualify for treatment services based on addiction.

I know that you don't want to hear just "stop drinking" but that would be your first step. The second would be going to an AA meeting in your area.

Do whatever it takes to not drink. http://www.whatwinnersdo.com is my personal addiction recovery site where I go into the benefits of AA and NA

Stop drinking entirely would be the correct response unless you are being untruthful about your addiction. You're not physically dependent on alcohol, that actually takes a lot of work to acheive. Addiction doesn't happen instantly. You're probably using alcohol to deal with psychological issues. There is no such thing as a facility that will teach you how to be a happy drunk. See a counsellor or go to an AA meeting.

How you know you are addicted is when you think you are not and think you can stop at any time you want to.
I work a A.A. meetings. and you know what it's ok to have a drinking problem but it's not ok to be alone and not get help or support. so i say try going to an AA meeting...there are many different meetings.....some you may like some you may not. lots of people have drinking problems, some you'd never expect because they look so perfect! but they WONT JUDGE you. so i'd give it a shot at least.
there are centers too that can help you....maybe try looking that up in the phone book.

i hope this helps you some!

peace :)

Seen that with many people before, some people just can't handle their liquor. So you have a decision to make. Either you can commit to drink socially, a couple here or there...not enough to get all tore up, or.....you can just not drink. That is about all the options you have. As far as I know, there aren't any treatment centers that specialize in binge drinking.....only centers that treat people who desire to quit drinking permanently. Best of luck to you.

I was going to give you the genius answer but...sigh...

Try buying less, or mixing weaker drinks. Do little things to trick yourself into having less. Like...buy a 6 pack instead of a case. Or drink with more people. :)

I'm sure there's a binge drinking group...there's a group for everything. Or...try going to an AA meeting. It may help you sort out some of your problems. And you get free coffee.

You ARE an alcoholic, just of the binge drinking variety.

Stop drinking and get professional counselling.

If you can't stop, then you are an alcoholic. It is good that you realize you have a problem. Try AA.

i suggest you go to some anger management programs. there are also anger management support groups. alcohol releases inhabitions, in your case some pent up anger at someone/something. if you don't deal with it, it can get worse as you keep mulling over whatever you're angery at
