So i went job hunting since I am turning 17 tomorrow, and I went into American Eagle, and I asked the lady for an application, and she looked at me, and gave me the paper and told me to come in next week at 3 with the application. I was sort of confused--why couldn't i turn it in just there? Anyone who works at such stores or something similar know why? None of the other places like Puma or Pacsun made me wait.
Let me know please, thank you
Additional Details
She said a week from today at 3*** sorry

Well she seemed like a nice lady, and I took the application, and when I asked for a pen, she's like, make sure you bring that next....Wednesday at 3 O'clock. I was like, oh...so next wednesday you said? when I left the store, and she said yes. I don't know why, but you guys seriously think I should complain?

What I'll do is, go in there next wednesday and just tell them "I was told to bring this application in at this current time" and see their responses

Do exactly what she told you. That is your first test. They want to know if you can follow instructions.
Peace and blessings!

Happy 17th Birthday!
I encourage you not to complain. Go back next Wednesday at 3. You said she seemed nice. She gave you a job application. She wants you to come back with your completed application for an interview.. Next time introduce yourself. Be polite. Ask her (or his) name. Hint: Hey! is not a name. Act interested. Goggle American Eagle and find out a little about their company. They might ask you a question about American Eagle. Don't mention Puma or Pacsun.
Dress for success. Wear something nice or from American Eagle. Be prepared for an interview. Answer the question. It is best to say, "I don't know" when you don't know. Be honest, clear, concise, and to the point. Keep your answers short. Don't ramble on! Relax. You'll do just fine.
If this doesn't work out for you, it will be a great experience for your next job application and interview.

Hm that is kind of odd, but maybe they are really desperate for employees, and she plans on giving you an interview on the spot. Either that or she figured you wouldn't come back, so she just gave you a random time to come, in hopes that you wouldn't show up. Employers judge you from the moment those words "Can I have an application" pop out of your mouth. If they don't like the way you are dressed, the color of your hair, or piercings they don't approve of they will give you the run around. Don't assume the worst though. If you remember her name, come back when she told you to, ask for her by name and tell her you wanted to return the application like she asked. Good luck.

If she gave you a specific date and time to come back, that sounds like a good sign, like you made a good impression. Maybe someone will be there at that time that she wants to talk to you. In any case, sounds good. Be there at quarter til 3 that day.
The people telling you to complain about her are nuts. Or else have no concept at all of how things work.

Maybe they want a manager there that does the interviews and that is when he will be there. Never heard of someone doing that before but if it is a job you are interested in then do it. Maybe one of the others will come in first.

Thats totally absurd!! go back there and ask to talk to the manager.. you should complain..write a complaint about her because anyone filling out any job application anywhere can take it in any time they want!! there's no law or rule stating it has to b in on a certain date...complain about her! show her ur not a dummie like she probably thinks

She plans on reviewing the application in your presence.Possibly an on the spot interview and possibly send you for a drug test. They sound on the ball and you may not have to wait long to be hired.
Good luck!!!

That doesn't sound right. You should call and speak to someone in management. She should have been able to accept the application right then and there.
