Well, when macaws are in daylight or flying around, they believe it's the time to be awake, so it's okay for them to be noisy.
When you just want him to shut up, put a dark cover over his cage. He will think it's night time, will stop making noise, and probably sleep.
Good luck!

If you are in a house and not an apartment apologize politely, but you have the legal right to own the bird. A Macaw is a noisy flock animal by nature and it is going to make noise if it's morning, if it's hungry, if it's happy, and when the sun sets. Oh yea if it's pissed too. So try to figure out why it's screaming first. Does he need more attention from you, is he hungry, are you eating something in front of him he would like you to share? There are many reasons why he is so loud, you should just try to understand why. If the bird is greeting the morning, communicating with you appropriately, and bidding the day good bye, all these are normal good healthy behaviors and the bird should be allowed to experience them if it is going to be domestically kept. Good luck.

This is true. We are in a small town with a parrot. A lady come from gosh three houses down to talk to me.
When she heard a noise she said "there it is again"!! I am used to my birds noises and said what?
She accused me of having a cat under our house. Not only had it under there but was torturing it!!
I swear if I were not on this calm down meds I would have seriously kicked her off our place......
Your neighbors are going to have to get used to your bird. I personally think they sound great, some times they do pierce the ears (been around your kind of parrot before lol)......We have this African gray and she rings the phone to get us running then laughs at us!!

A lot of noise is part of owning a parrot like a B&G! It is normal and natural. Keep him indoors during the noisy times of day, and keep the windows and doors closed. Give him plenty of toys and spend lots of time with him. If your neighbors are so close the noise is bothering them, you may have to sound proof the parrot room!

I heard once that if you drape a blanket over a bird's cage, it will go to sleep thinking it's night. When your neighbors are home, you might just cover your macaw's cage to keep him quiet.
