As long as we're going to do grade school logic exercises:
I. According to the buybull, god is omnipotent---all-powerful.
2. Also according to the buybull, god is benevolent, loving and good.
3. It is a given, from historical evidence, that bad things happen.
So . . . either god is unable to stop bad things from happening, in which case god is NOT omnipotent, but a liar, or god is omnipotent, and COULD stop them, but does not, in which case god is a monster.
Q: Which is it? Is god a liar, or a monster?

So far, as expected. I have to comment on the further logical fallacy inherent in "if good things happen, god does them. If bad things happen, they're really good because they're part of god's design. "
Kind of makes us seem like god's tinkertoy set.

God gave man free will and does not interfere in that free will, men cause most of the bad things that happen.
But by all means make no mistake about it, my God is dangerous, all powerful, omnipotent, omnipresent and above all Holy.
God is not a monster, he looks like a man or should I say man looks like him, God is not a liar either that is a trait special to man.

We are completely unable to know for a fact whether god exists. I think that it is much more complicated than the god of the bible. That god is fiction. So I guess I would have to say neither.

God causes things we deem "bad" IE. the flood, however, these serve a distinct purpose. Bad things do happen, however, these also fit into God's plan (when one door closes another one opens). God stops bad things from occurring which would interfere with His plan. God gave everything free-will including Satan, so Satan has the freedom to cause evil and chaos, if it belongs in God's plan God allows it, if it does not he stops it.
So simple answer everything happens for a reason, according to God's master plan. God's plan is in the end right, whether we think it is right or wrong. We may think things are bad, but I know from personal experience "bad" things can bring out the best in people

I saw a man walking down the street. He was drunk. I asked if he needed some help. He said, "No." I asked again and he repeated the same.
He fell. I offered him a hand up. He refused. He got up and fell again. He got angry with me for offering. I left.
Why would God be a monster because WE treat each other like dirt? Why is it that people think God has to babysit us?
Why do you need babysitting? We had a chance, he gave us a world, we turn it to mud, and you blame God?
How childish.

Have you ever seen the Clockwork orange?
How is it God's fault if we choose to abuse our free-will?
Even so, God chose to be born as one of us and die so that he himself could experience the suffering that we inflict on one another... when he died on the cross, he paved a way for us to come to God no matter what we've done or who we've hurt...
Would you rather you and I, sinners who hurt other people, were never born?

I love the way that you worded the question so no matter what I answer, based on your choices I sound dumb.
Like me asking.
Have you stopped beating your wife yet?
Yes or No
Yes, implies that you did, which makes u bad
No, implies that you haven't stopped which still makes u bad
