I'm learning to play the guitar and am having trouble with the B chord. Yes I know it takes practice and I have to find ways around things. I just wanna know if anyone uses any special tricks to make B chords or other chords where wide finger spacing is necessary. Thanks.

I'm not getting the right sound out of the power chord...I assume cause it's an acoustic guitar I dunno (im still new).

The problem I've been having with the bar chord is that my fingers are a bit short and fingertips a bit wide. So not only do I have trouble reaching my 2nd-3rd-4th fingers over but I cant get them all in the single fret at one time....at least not without the D string getting muffled. I have been trying to make the 1st bar and then using my 3rd finger to make a small bar on the strings needed but its hard to keep from muffling the surrounding strings. I guess I'll keep at that if I can't figure something better.

Stick to an easy one like
B-D#-F# on the first three strings.
ie - 1/2
2/4
3/4
where the first no. is the string and the second the fret. Barre chords are advanced and should be avoided by beginners.

Perhaps the best approach for you to form a B chord is as follows:

xx4447 (bar the fourth fret with the forefinger and place the little finger on the seventh fret, first string)

Another choice is: 799877

The only way I know to get the full B chord is to use the bar chord. It took me a long time to be able to play it well. In the mean time, you could use the power chord, thats all I know to tell you.

Just barre the D,G and B strings at the fourth fret. Play only those strings. Good luck!!
