SI tuviera un millón de dolares, Yo compraría una casa grande.
If i had a million dollars i would buy a big house
Thats the idea Tuviera its 1st person, the original verb it's tener (to have)
The idea of the imperfect subjunctive its that you're saying something that isnt happening but could, like an expectation like quisiera ( i would like), si fuera mas alta...( if i were taller),
Yo Tuviera
Tu tuvieras
El tuviera
Nosotros tuvieramos
Ustedes , ellos Tuvieran
And means "if i had" in this case.
Compraria its from the verb comprar. and means i would buy.
verbs wich end in IA means something that you WOULD do BUT something don't let you.
Nadaria si el agua estuviera menos fria
I WOULD swim IF the water were less cold.
Hope it helps let me know if you need more help =)

"Si yo tuviera (imperfect subjunctive) un millón de dólares, compraría (conditional) una casa grande.
It's difficult to explain but I'll try..
The Present Subjunctive refers to things which MAY happen.
The Imperfect Subjunctive refers to events that did
not, cannot and will not happen.
It's normally used with 'si' (if),
If something happened, then I would..... do something. (But that something will never happen)
.

The imperfect subjunctive goes like this Yo amara OR amase Tu amaras OR amases El/Ella amara OR amase Nosotros amáramos OR amásemos Vosotros amarais OR amaseis Ellos amaran o amasen Example Tu amaras el lugar si lo conocieras Ps the "o" that apears between the verbs means OR Good luck XD Comer = Yo comiera

The intent is to express an "impossible condition". Understand "condition" as "IF....". "Impossible" because you definately don't have a million dollars -- you're just saying that for the sake of argument.

Two recommendations:
www.languageexercise.com-> practice quizzes
the book 501 Spanish Verbs (available at above site)->the verbs are conjugated in all 14 tenses and there's a very nice explanation in the front about each tense and which ones go together in complex sentences

That's really hard to explain. But anyway, everytime that you translate "If I..." the spanish verb goes in subjunctive.
