Well, if you were 20 and he were 25 people would be more accepting. If you two mess around then he can get in BIG legal trouble so if you're going to mess around (which you shouldnt) do it when you're 18 and it's legal.

Greetings!
I married a man that was a bit older than I was and he put his sights on me when I was 15 and he was in the Air Force. I had experienced nothing in life and married him when I was 19. I thought he was my soulmate and so did everyone else. I acted like he was my world and he did the same, that is until I started growing up and wanted to go out and experience life. I don't mean with other men, I wanted to go to college and go to work and he wanted me barefoot and pregnant.
Needless to say it caused great problems in our relationship because he was losing his childbride, or so he began to feel like I was pulling away from him because I wanted to experience some of the things that I had missed by being with him and tied to our relationship. Our marriage ended in divorce for several reasons, but him not being able to handle the woman I was becoming and no longer being his sweet young girl that he could nurture and suttlely TRAIN to be exactly the way he wanted me to be in the guise of caring so very much about me.
I can't say that this relationship will turn out the same way, but one has to wonder why a 21 year old wants to be with a child barely in high school. Appearances aren't always what they seem but in this case I hope they are.
As far as the laws go. He is risking his freedom regardless of how much they seem to be in love and everyone else thinks it is a good relationship as well. He can be brought up on charges by the state simply because he is breaking the law, unless she becomes an emancipated minor. I would never allow such a thing for my child and if he loves her so much, I would think he would want what is best for her, even if that means waiting for her to become of legal age or letting her go.
I wish them the best no matter what....

This may or may not be illegal, depending on the state that they live in, and I guess regardless of which state you live in it is probably legal if sex / intimate touching is not involved. If you are the boyfriend, even if this is legal, you should ask yourself if this is just the way things worked out or if you are into very young girls. If you are into very young girls you should get some help before you hurt someone and/or ruin your own life. I remember being 21 - it wouldn't have crossed my mind to do something like this. It is not normal, but I'm sure this is not the first time that it has ever happened.

It is still illegal! The parents are blessing an illegal relationship and I do not think that is wise. Now, if they really loved one another, they would be willing to wait for her to finish school.
Most definitely, the young man would want her to experience things her own age. That includes school and activities around school! If he does this, then you know he truly loves her! If not, I would not think it is a good idea at all! She is too young for such a serious relationship.

If I were her dad he would be in jail. Why?Because at 16 she is incapable of supporting herself.Lest say he gets her knocked up and dies.Guess what?No diploma, no car no job etc. What happens if he gets her knocked up and dumps her?So much for her teen self esteem and no diploma no job no car etc. They shouldnt be dating. She will NOT be the same person at 25 that she is now.People grow and change a lot during those years. They learn more their opinions change and when that happens they may not be compatible anymore. She needs to grow up first and get school finished and be able to be self sustaining before getting serious with any guy.The 21 yr old is after one thing mostly. It isnt marriage. Her parents are idiots.

The difference in the age wouldn't be a big deal if the girl was 18 and he was 23,but she is still underage, which means by law that he could be charged with statatory rape. Also, this girl is only 16, is she really certain that this is love? Is she old enough to know for sure?

Seen too many times where true love ends in heart break and when the girl cries to the parents mr 21 y/o ends up in jail. The guy is playing with fire. By the way, in most states she has untill she is 19 to file charges.

If they're having sex that's against the law. If they're just dating and waiting (strange these days, but still possible) then I don't think there's anything strange about it.
I was 17 and my husband was almost 24 when we met, and we've now been married for 20 years! (after dating for over 7 years). Love knows no age -- if it's right then it's right.

This is so overly romanticized...sounds like a romance novel, but whatever makes your fantasies go round...
Regardless....the age difference is appropriate.
I am a 21 year old woman and I would never date a 21 year old boy....because they are way too immature for me to even consider. My last boyfriend was 28. You two are probably right on, most 21 year old girls are mostly likely not interested in him anyway.

well, i personally don't think there is anything wrong with it. I mean, shift it 2 years, 18 and 23. That would be my circumstance for the most part right now. 5 years really isn't that much of a gap.
If they're enjoying eachothers company, than no harm is done!

If it's so important, they can quit now for two years and come back when they are both much more mature.
I'll lay 9 to 1 oddds that it is a sexual relationship. If she gets pregant, it will completely mess up her life. A 16 year-old girl can get pregant by thinking about it.
