Technically, it would be considered theft, but no police officer is going to write that charge. They won't even bother you unless your landlord calls, and in that case, they will just tell you not to do it again. They would be more aggravated at your landlord for calling them out for something stupid than anything else.

Did someone tell you that it was? It isn't illegal to pick up pine cones of the ground. You could pull them off the tree as a cop was driving by and I can guarantee he wouldn't slow down, as long as you weren't chucking them at cars.

Somewhere there might be some law that somebody might say makes it illegal. I doubt it, but there could be.
However, if you actually got in trouble for it, you would simply go to court and tell them what you did, and the judge would get very angry at the policeman for wasting time on a completely harmless activity, and would let you go. But no policeman is going to care anyway. So don't worry about it.

Pick all you want! I doubt anyone would care unless you were on some persons private property without them knowing.
Then you would be trespassing.
I doubt it would be a big issue with your landlord because you live there.

Don't think that I have seen a cop give a ticket to a squirrel
Take them, they are a pain to clean up anyway

Oh and if they do have a rule , carry one in your pocket and if you ever fall and hurt yourself, blame it on a pine cone and sue them for their rule. Just joking, but I'll be checking the newspapers for pine cone lawsuits in the further

You're fine. Any cop that would give you a ticket for that is just a plain jerk. Good luck with your project!

Take all you want. Do you think a judge would hear that case?

If you have any doubt - ask your landlord. Most landlords do not care if you pick them up or not. The more you pick up the less they have to cleanup....................
