of course it isn't right. in my job i come across alot of girls like that. most have been horribly sexually abused and/or are hooked on drugs. they ALL have come from horrible childhoods. i think the ppl who do this to them ARE far worse. consider where it all starts. at the hands of an evil person. alot of times it's thier own family members. you expect them to have an inkling of what morality is? why don't u be moral and help someone instead of judging?

Everyone pays for sex. Your husband gets you flowers, you rub his back, etc, etc. If the person prostituting is doing it of their own free will, and is not under the control of a pimp or madam, it is that persons right to decide what they do with their body. It is not the governments right to decide what people do with their body, IMO. Would I marry a prostitute, NO. Because prostitution is dangerous, and because I believe in monogamy. Do I think people that prostitute are bad people? Absolutly not. It's a personal choice. I do think it's dangerous, and degrading, but not immoral. Would I do it? NO. Do I think it's a good idea? NO. But we shouldn't judge other people for the decisions they make for their own life.

Yes. And it has nothing to do with sex.

Prostitution systematically enslaves and exploits women. There is no true equality or consent in the sexual relationship and it leads to women being abused physically and emotionally.

Even if there were such a thing as a "healthy, independent" prostitute, the overwhelming majority of women are forced or strongly coerced to join a profession built on abuse and intimidation.

It's a human rights issue.

Immorality and what is considered immoral differs from person to person..

No I do not consider prostitution immoral to some extent we are all selling ourselves in any job we have... Prostitutes are just more up front about what exactly is for sale than your average office worker (selling their brain, fingers for typing, etc.), Attorney (selling brain and law knowledge stored in the brain), Dr. (selling brain and medical knowledge stored in the brain) etc...

Let's see: having sex is legal, buying and selling things is legal, why is buying and selling sex illegal?

No I don't think it is immoral in theory. In practice, it is usually a dangerous, abusive, and horrible exploitation of fellow human beings.

--Edit--
One point I forgot to make. In prostitution where the "john" is in a committed relationship, then the act is potentially placing a third party in physical danger from disease, or in emotional distress without informed consent. So in this way it could be considered immoral as the john is commiting a non consensual act on a third party.

Nope. If a legal adult wants to make money that way then who am I to stop her? People have one night stands and have sex with random people every day, so it's really not much different than that. At least she'll be making some money off of it.

Dating and marriage is pretty much prostitution already.

I have very mixed feelings about it. A woman's body should be her own to do with what she wishes, but women are often exploited in this way by unscrupulous people. Believe me, its always been around and always will. I certainly don't judge women who do make a living this way.

Sex isn't immoral but rape is. So as long as it isn't forced and meets other requirements then I don't see anything inherently wrong.
