I agree with you fully. I support our troops and our country as a whole but not the president and his intentions in Iraq. I care for every human being but cannot justify mindless acts of war without necessary cause. As we like to believe we progressed we have not altogether as a group, others are entitled to their opinions as we are to ours. We should not dispute the validity of those opinions because they are just that. Through unity and unity alone will we ever progress. Never be silenced. Never insult anothers opinion. Be open minded and accepting. Through these things will we truly grow as a nation. Please keep asking, never stop questioning.

War changes from time to time. US - Vietnam war changed as US - Iraq war.
Troop remain same for ever. For example, American troop will remain American.
As long as we are patriotic we will support our troops, even if they were fighting an unjust war like the one in Iraq. The tropes are people like us. They don't decide which war they should be participating. Which ever the government decides the troop's are there to fight. So for any unjust war I don't blame the trope and I don't take my heart away from them. Instead I give my support at the same time I withdrew my support in regard to particular war.I am against the government which decides the war, not against the troop's, who try to implement the governments decision.
Some may say, the troops are the war and war is the troop.
Even in a war there are troops who help the enemies of wounded at times. As long as a troop acts like a puppet they can not be considered war. Troops are an instrument to carry out and implement the political aspiration of a government. Like an Aircraft or a Missile. There fore they can only be considered as troop and not as war.
Like you don't blame the ships, aircraft and the bombs which used in a war to kill enemies. They are used by a troop and likewise a troop is also used by a government. There are many soldiers disagree with the government, but still the stay and fight a war. It is because they have no power to change the course. Today we blame the government of the day and not the troops which went to Vietnam and fought a unsuccessful war.

Well, if they are they're fighting and you support them, that is fine. However, if you start on a diatribe of why they should not be there, and they are not better than any other killer and you want the funding to stop and everyone to have a group hug,. then you are not supporting them. You really can't have it both ways. This is a volunteer service nowadays. They signed up knowing a war can happen. No one forced them to sign up and God bless them for their service.
They are fighting because they signed up for this. If you want to support warriors that are not supposed to be in a war, how do you do that? Your gripe is with the war itself. When is there a good war? Is it good if it isn't happening in your town? Or State? I don't want to see anyone die but this is what war does. How many deaths are too much? 100? 1000? 3000? 60 ,000? Amounts similar to WWII? If we did not fight world war two, what would these questions be like?
So basically you support the troops when they are doing what you feel is right.
Just thank them and praise them. That is the support they need.

While I truly believe it is possible, for a lot of people, there is no difference. A lot of people seem to take their dis-agreement with the war out on the troops. They seem to word their signs in such a manner as to infer their disdain of both. And I would like to think it is strictly accidental. But who knows.
They seem to think that we, the warriors, are warmongers and we "WANT" this. Nothing could be further from the truth. I know of no one in uniform who "wants" a war. We train to fight them and would prefer to spend a career in training. But it happens, that at times, something comes along that a politician feels is worth fighting for. So we go whether we agree or not. And we die, whether it is for our countrymen or for someone we have never met. They have the right to pursue happiness and a better life.
Greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for a friend.

Because "I support the troops but I don't support the war" is an oxymoron.
The troops ARE the war, and the war IS the troops. You cannot separate the two logically.

Well, I have two nephew's in the 101st Division. But right now they are going oversea's a total of a long more time than their grandfather spent on a ship at sea in WWII. I am disabled out, from 'Nam. I am proud of the boy's but sick of the politician's! They don't seem to have a lick of common sense!

Is any war worth fighting for you liberals... Put yourself in an iraqi's shoes. They are being killed by their own people over there. We are over there HELPING them. The US has an obligation to help them that cannot help themselves. Stop being so inconsiderate and only caring about your country. And you know what else, STOP blaming the president. CONGRESS funds the war, they accepted the war. Don't put all the blame on the president. God only knows what would of happened to us in WW2 if you liberals were there. The terrorist bombed the WTC's. The Japanese Bombed pearl harbor. We went to Afghanistan and Iraq to fight them. We went to Europe and Iwo Jima and Okinawa in WW2 to fight the japanese. Do you see a pattern here? With that said, you can hate a war but you damn sure better support our troops

I agree that they are two seperate issues...there are two problems with it though...first of all you have small minded people who think in a vacuum and cannot seperate the two...second problem is some of us remember vietnam and when the men came back...how that looked...what happened to them...how they were treated...while people then were protesting the war...they treated the men horrible and it had a lasting effect on how we now do things...hope this helps

I support the troops, in the sense that I support the individuals and hope they don't die. I never supported the war. I see them as two different issues, as well.

Depends on which side of the fence you sit on. Conservatives tend to be bloodthirsty animals, supporting wars with bumper stickers and hate messages.
I wouldn't bother worrying about what others think. I support our troops wherever they may be stationed, yet I do not support a president who took us to war on the premise of LIES.
If someone is too stupid to see through that then personally, I don't worry about their opinion one way or another.
