Wouldn't ghosts kind of contradict the ideas of the afterlife put forth in Christianity?

OK, stayathomemom, but shouldn't spirits be "sleeping", awaiting judgement day, rather than wandering around?

If an atheist disbelieves gods for the right reason, then they disbelieve all forms of supernatural nonsense... including ghosts.

There is no hell...no where in the bible is hell mentioned. People who died are like they are sleeping. Ecclesiastes 9:5..they are conscious of nothing at all. But God will resurrect them into a beautiful paradise on earth John 5:28+29 after he destroys wickedness (Psalm 37:10+11

I think so...I mean, that would mean people, pets, etc were still HERE instead of off in a magical land with jesus.
Personally I like that concept better and is my idea of a "heaven" were the slightest amount of an afterlife actually true.

Well, many christians believe that dead people become angels when they die. Nevermind that you won't find that little tidbit in the bible. Angels are a seperate species altogether. So if many can believe that, i'm sure they can believe in ghosts without realizing that they are violating their own belief system.

It is rather better to call them spirits. The ghost as ordinarily mentioned or even experience is a deception of satan and so it becomes a pyschic phenomenom or a mental creation. Thus, when a man dies like in the case of Dimas, the crucified man on the right of the crucfied LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said to him, today you are wtih ME in paradise. Also St Stephen said I saw heaven opened and saw the Son of Man standing at the right hand of GOD. Also Mohammad in the Book of Quran said that he was brought to heaven by Archangel Gabriel. This heaven is a higher dimension where the New Earth and the New heaven are present and with their countless puregold planets with their Garden of paradise on their ground level; and its center is the CITY OF GOD, THE HOLY CITY JERUSALEM. It is in a celestial heaven. St John of the Book of Revelations said I saw the new earth and the new heaven and the old earth and the old heaven fled away. In the book of Isaiah THE LORD GOD said As the heaven is higher than the Earth so MY ways and MY thoughts are higher than your ways and your thoughts. On one hand, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said Lazarus was carried by the angels to the bossom of Abraham. This heaven where Abraham is the caretaker is a future Earth that will start in the year 3500 which is the 2nd coming of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. This future earth and future heaven under the reign of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST will be remade where all planets and moons will become Garden of Eden where this heaven will be in terrestial glory, The inhabitants of this terrestial heaven will be the natural men transformed into angel-like as they will be born in the spirit. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST said in the regeneration to come, men will not get married or be married because they will be angel-like. Thus, when the natural men die their spirits are transported by Archangel Rafael who will act through the HOLY SPIRIT and as a tunnel of light transport the spirits of natural men to a future Earth 1500 years away from us as the 2nd coming of THE LORD JESUS CHRIST will be on the year 3500. In the Garden of Eden as these spirits of natural men will be yet returned to their dead bodies in the year 4500 which is the 2nd resurrection, these spirits will rest for a little while in the caretaker of Father Abraham, thus they will be in the bosom of Abraham so to speak. As a summary, when the spirits of the chosen ones die, a door of heaven will be opened to them or their spirits go vertically to the celestial heaven in the garden of paradise and they will be gods and will inherit already one puregold planet as his personal home; they will be received in THE CITY OF GOD as the governing Kings in the Kingdom of heaven; they will retun to their dead bodies in the first resurrection of the righteous in the year 3500 on the rapture when all the dead bodies of the servants of GOD will arise and rapture to heaven to meet THE LORD JESUS CHRIST together with all the angels with swords from heaven; while the spirits of natural men will go or travel horizontally to the future earth with garden of eden and there, upon the spirits joining their dead bodies in the resurrection of the dead will be transformed later into angel-like. In the Kingdom of heaven that will be governed by Kings who will rule from above-THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS, the angel-like will be trained how to give thansk to GOD; how to fear GOD; how to praise GOD; how to glorify GOD; how to honor GOD; how to love GOD and how to worship GOD.
