oK...straight to the point. If you dont want ur son being harrased by the drill instructor more than he already is then DONT send care packages! just letters from home is good enough. during my time at bootcamp recruits would recieve care packages full of power bars. once he would open it he would have to eat all the power bars...from the look on his face that must have really sucked. this other recruit would always get letters from is GF with a big lip stick kiss on the back....YES every time recieved a letter with a kiss he would have to put the letter on the floor and do push ups going all the way down kissing the kiss and back up. So dont put him thru more hell!!! if he is in the airforce boot camp, send him anything u want, same goes to navy and army

No care packages as he leaves. Once he's there, he will write to you about what they are allowed to receive while there. Seriously... do NOT send him with anything other than the specific list the recruiter should give him. Anything more or less than that and he WILL pay the consequences... Never a great way to start out...

it is been some years with the aid of fact my boot camp, yet there have been NO care programs prevalent. Letters, enjoying cards and a as quickly as a week telephone call(after the 1st 2 weeks). issues could have replaced. examine at the same time with your community protection rigidity recruiting website.

While in basic training, there is VERY LITTLE space to store personal effects. He won't really need a care package...just lots of love in the form of letters and pictures. They will receive everything they need for basic day to day activities, so just send letters and pictures. He will get instructions as to what is and what is not allowed.
EVERYTHING he brings will be shipped back the first week he is there. His clothes he wore there, baseball caps, sunglasses, EVERYTHING.

He will need to take thngs like razors & shaving cream, toothbrush etc, all those personal hygiene items.
Its also not a bad idea to put in some lightweight tent pegs (when your sent out in the bush for a week, given a sheet of canvas and told to make shelter, sticks and twigs dont really cut it).
Flip flops for the showers, a lot of tinea and other communicable infections get around boot camp.
pre-stamped addressed envelopes
Other than that, all the things listed on his recruits info pack:
Lockable suitcase or soft bag to store your civilian clothes
Plastic sealable container (lunchbox size) to store foodstuff
Small radio and/or compact disc player
Up to four personal photographs
You may bring the following items of equipment with you or purchase them at the Recruit School Canteen
Ironing Board
Steam iron
Laundry Detergent and stain removing soap
Black 'Parade Gloss' shoe polish
Polishing cloths
Small zip pack to store shoes cleaning gear
Cardboard box with lid to place personal items in
Stationary items (to write home)
Expect to use toiletries daily or twice daily or more often if required. Personal hygeine is extremely important for your own well being and that of others with whom you have to live and work. Ensure that you bring with you or purchase on arrival the following items:
Personal soap
Hair shampoo
Nail scissors/clippers and brush
Hair comb
Tooth brush and tooth paste
Deodourant
In addition to the above, you should bring the following
Male Recruits
Swimming trunks - speedo style
Nightwear - minimum boxer shorts and Tshirt
Thongs to wear in the shower
Toiletries (as above)
Female Recruits
1 piece bathing suit
Sport bra/s
Nightwear - minimum boxer shorts and Tshirt
Thongs to wear in the shower
Toiletries (as above)
Hair-combs / bobby pins / hairnets (long hair is required to be put up in a bun)
Note: attention is drawn to appropriate hairstyles for women
DO NOT under any circumstances bring the following items
Large stereo equipment
Skateboards
Electrical extension cables
Laptop computers
Portable radio equipment (CB or 2 way radio equipment)
Offensive or inappropriate material (magazines / videos / DVDs)
I find it amusing to get a THUMBS DOWN on this one as i have my letter of enlistment checklist here, and there is also one on the Royal Australian Army website which all this has been copied straight from.... funny that :)

very little: NO food, candy, gum, magazines, books or newspaper clippings. ditto electroinic toys and anything like that
unless he specifically asks for something, don't send it. Stationary, stamps, and family photos are fine. he will have VERY little space to store anything, and anything not expressly allowed will be taken away from him.
