BIG questions. The answer you get will differ from religious people to non. No, men do not have one less rib than women. It makes for a nice story. As to why not clay, who knows why it was written like that. I guess it had something to that at the time men were considered superior to women. So this makes a good story to say that women were made from a part of man.

Adam had one less ribs the day after Eve was created. He is the only man that lost a rib for his spouse.

perhaps god removed the rib but not the gene that creates the rib. whoa, makes sense to me... that would mean that when cain and able came out they had the body parts mom and dad had with the addition of a belly button they couldn't have had because they were created not born. that would be like saying because a man chopped his finger or leg off any offspring he has from that point on won't have a finger or a leg... wouldn't it?

What kind of logic is that? You could also say, why don't women have only one rib. There is a reason for what God did. But I'll let you figure it out.

God removed the "rib" after Adam was fully formed. It was not a genetic change, but a surgical removal. If you were to lose one of your fingers, or some other body part, would your children be born missing their fingers? Think about it....and the answer will be obvious.
