1st: your bible says gays are to be stoned.
2nd: secular marriage is not scriptural by definition.
3rd: no one is talking about forcing your religion to conduct gay marriages.

So why won't you make it legal for gays to obtain secular marriage (or religious marriages with any religion willing to conduct them)?

When did your country become a theocracy where the rule of one religion governs the rest?

The Old Testament says gays are to be stoned.

The New Testament doesn't say it's okay to stone gays -- but it still says that homosexuality is wrong.

Gay people already have a right to marry. They have the same right to marry a member of the opposite sex that everybody else does.

It's these elected leaders that seek votes by cleaning up america and restoring true Christian values. They don't acknowledge everyone's rights and religion. They think that Christianity will make everyone's life better if everyone submits. They are deceived. There have been a few of these outed as homosexual when they preached family values and Christian beliefs. These people can't just take it all back and go back and pretend to be straight again just to save face. Once the fear is eliminated, then there will be less violence against it. People will start to understand that homosexuals aren't out to get heterosexuals. They aren't lunatics. They're normal people. It isn't catchy. Homosexual parents don't automatically have homosexual children just as much as heterosexual parents don't always end up with hetero prodigies. It doesn't work that way all the time. I hope people start to accept it even if they don't agree with it or want any part of it. It's who the people are not what they do that we should love. It's only human to be kind and respectful to others.

tax_senior- Single partner homosexual relationships have a 0% rate of spreading diseases, just like heterosexual relationships. I guess you should ban anything that has the slightest risk of danger shouldn't you. Is marriage involving a sterile partner is unnatural? They can't have children, so should we prevent them from getting married too? No, there is no argument against gay marriage that doesn't involve religion or personal prejudice. Like I pointed out, people who make arguments against gay marriage ignore the fact you can use them against straight marriage as well. Marriage was originally started by the Ancient Greeks, not Christians. And guess what, there were a lot of gay people in Ancient Greece!

Marriage is between a man and woman any where in the world. There are only three countries that allows for gay marriage. No where in recorded history has the definition of marriage ever been between the same sex. Even in Solom and Gomorrah they did not have gay marriage; And that was before you had Christians and the bible.

Gays knows something is wrong with what they are doing. If they didn't, they would have pushed for marriage long ago. They do not want marriage; they just want their lifestyle to be accepted as normal...and it never will be.

Hey, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to a people" , God has not changed. Don't you recall the story of Sodom and Gomorrah? Regarding the Bible saying that gays should be stoned may be true, but go and search the scripture and find out what Jesus did when they wanted to stone an adulteress. He did not condone the sin, as he doesn't condone being homo but He forgave a repentant woman. 2nd, there is nothing like secular marriage...there is just one type of marriage which is defined by Jesus Christ as the joining of a MAN and a WOMAN to become ONE FLESH. This is the way God established marriage. And oh! Don't forget what Romans Chapter 1 warns will happen to those who practice this homo behavior. God cannot be mocked, whatever you sow is what you will reap.

Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed for such practices and I do not want to raise my children with two men or women getting touchy feely in public and have to explain the birds and the whatever it would become then. The spread of aids and no offspring can come from the practice should tell you that it is not such a proper use of your evolutionary theory.

I also think that it would only be a matter of time that the church would be attacked for "discrimination" against the unions. Just like the symbol for gayness is the rainbow. God's promise to never flood the whole earth again. It is a personal slap in the face of God. Give and inch and then a mile is demanded. I personally do not want to see public displays of homosexual affection.

God, however can defend Himself.

Because man should not lieth with man as he does with...womaneth?

I don't know, man. Different strokes for different folks.

Someone once asked if this endless debate has any influence in converting people's faiths or changing their mind. If anything, I think I'm starting to become bored with BOTH sides.
Christians will believe what christians will believe.
Atheists will believe what atheists will believe...
as will Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, Scientologists...you name it.
In the meantime, there's an entire world of people starving, getting raped, and getting killed while we're all battling over who's got the better idea.
Supposedly, the core of many of these religions is love, understanding, and tolerance. Not much of that going around AT ALL from either side of the Christian/Atheist debate at least.

Not sure if I answered your question at all, but I'm pretty sure I definitely earned my two points worth.

According to the online Merriam-Webster dictionary, marriage is defined as:

1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage

Honestly, I see nothing wrong with gay marriage. Then again, I'm not Christian but even when I was Christian, I was taught that everyone should be treated equally. That's something I still try to teach my children.

The country is not a theocracy. We all have the right to hold beliefs. We further have the right to organize, vote, lobby and influence the political system in a way which is consistent with our beliefs. That's called the American way. You seek to deprive SOME people of these rights because you disagree with them. You call the governernment a theocracy because you don't like the beliefs of the majority of our population. There is no litmus test for voting based on your beliefs. As far as gay marriage goes, the "right" never existed. Most of us like it that way and want it to stay that way. We will continue to vote, lobby, organize and influence the govt. in a way which is consistent with our beliefs. You are free to do the same.

In the USA we have rules to govern our country. Seems that a many of the people who vote in the United states also believe the Bible is a standard and believe that history of our country is valuable and worthy to preserve.
It seems that many "religions" in USA hold to one man one woman for life as the goal and precept to teach their children and grandchildren not only Christians, Research it.
