Forget Lemon juice. Do this (trust me, it works):

1) Wash face (or other area), let dry completely
2) Apply 2.5% benzoyl peroxide (a.k.a. "BP"), let dry completely
3) Apply lotion, let dry

The important things with this routine is to be patient! Give it a few months to let it do its thing. Do the routine everyday!

This is the advice from acne.org

I was desperate for something that worked, and this finally did (though it took a few months to see dramatic improvement).

The regime doesn't require you buy anything from the site (it really only requires a gentle cleanser, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, and a lotion), but it does sell the cleanser and BP. The BP sold on this site is of excellent quality and is a really good price compared to what you can buy at Walmart, but you have to have a credit or debit card (get your parents to buy it). Don't get anything stronger than 2.5% BP if you buy at walmart!!!!

I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin lotion to control dryness that results from BP. If you use BP on your face, your face will get flaky and you will need to use a moisturizer containing strong alpha hydroxy lotion (like Neutrogena Healthy Skin). It leaves a bit of oily residue, which you can pat dry with some tissue after the lotion completly absorbs.

If you apply makeup, use a powder foundation and apply it with a big poofy make-up brush (often called a Kabuki brush). Liquid foundation doesn't work well with this skin care system. I recommend Cover Girl TruBlend Powder Foundation. It matches well and has excellent coverage.

I also recommend that you put a eye cream (i.e. lotion not containing alphahydroxy) around your eyes before you apply the BP. This will help keep you eye area from drying out from the BP.

no no no! it will not help you!
Lemon is primarily citric acid, full of fruit sugar and sugar of any variety will breed bacteria which will feed and thrive and make your skin worse!
That is if you dont habe any minor (and I mean minor as in inisable) cuts on your skin which will sting like crazy until either the juice has dried into your skin or you have washed it off in a moment of pain and realisation to what you have done being very wrong!

The best thing you can do for acne is to see your doctor who can prescribe you something to get rid of the acne. Otherwise try anticeptics such as witch hazel, tea tree oil or other mild facial disinfectant. If you are into trying expensive stuff- which I recommend ONLY after attempting everything else, you could try Benefit or Origins who both do really go spot treatments.

A lemon will also really dry out your skin as its so acidic and you may end up with scars as you try to scratch it (dry skin is very often itchy as it is so dry).

Try not putting lemon on your pimples. Go to a pharmasict or a beauty therapist and ask for witch hazel these dries the spot but doesn't do damage to your skin. it is also good as a toner. Just put it on a cotton wool and wipe your face with it.

Only a complete twit would put lemon juice on their poor sore face! Go with the toothpaste idea instead!

Hi - I wouldnt recommend lemon, thatd sting like heck for a start! Try FREEDERM from any pharmacy, Im using it at the mo and its working a treat. Also want to point out, where people are suggesting toothpaste, DONT use a whitening one or anything like that, the plainest one you can get will be the one to use :) xx

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lemon helps to lighten up skin, not to prevent acne. There are tons on Indian recipes were lemon is used as a skin lightener. I have never heard it used for acne control. Acid lightens, not heal and prevent.
Toothpaste also does not work. I tried to warn my cousin about it...She ended up burning a hole in her skin.
I wish I could tell you that I have used it. But I am lucky because I have never had a problem with acne. I have watched my brothers and cousins struggle with it.
The ONLY thing that worked for them was Pro-Activ. Yes the infomercials are cheesy and lame, but they do work. Her skin is flawless now. Try it and see for yourself.

The acid is supposed to dry up your skin and so get rid of the acne.

Might be a bit harsh though - depends entirely on how 'greasy' your skin is in the first place.

What are you washing your face with? Never use soap on your face. Soap has alkaline which will clog pores. Try Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. It works for me. It can be purchased at any drug or grocery store.

yes, it dries the spot but can be very painful. It is the same with toothpaste, it dries them up so not so greasy. Good luck i used toothpaste for my spots and it works well for me. Face wash as well.
